Carton Brewing (2020)

Store. I got lucky...I drive by Roger Wilco everyday on my way home from work but I haven't been since COVID started because the place has been absolutely slammed full of Philly people stocking up on literally truckloads of booze. Lines out the ass. Today I noticed it wasn't busy so I sprinted in and grabbed some Wedge (there was about a case left), a single of Swishr and some other things (Schlenkerla Lentbier, Oxbow, Aslin)

 

Oxbow. Nice.

 

Having a Swishr Passion Fruit now. Full disclosure, I haven't had any of the prior iterations, but I'm really enjoying this. Very interesting and subtle is every respect... not very smokey, not too roasty, not fruity, not hoppy, but all very there, and in a real nice harmony... I'm really impressed.

@augiecarton well done. also interested to hear if wedge issue was in distro, but i didn't think so... happy to be wrong tho.

 

thanks it's a fun project, it went way too fast this year i'll have to make more next time. wedge is out there

 

Just got some Stay Down from White Horse in Egg Harbor via curbside. Sounded good but the cans are well over a year old...

 

has anyone seen passion fruit swishr in distro in coastal monmouth county / near the brewery? was planning on picking some up at the brewery but it came & went too quickly

 

think its actually almost like 2 years. had my most recent one around valentines the cola tones were dope. let me know what you think

 

Drinking GaNe wedge issue at this moment. Today has to be the perfect mark for it since the release. You get that hit of pineapple (not overwhelming) right up front which turns into wine-ish / slightly bitter, medium bodied brew. I am enjoying the fuck out of every sip of it. Also, the beer is not muddied at all. It feels clean and crispy on every level of sippage.

 

It was interesting. Wasn't bad not my cup of tea. Any idea where I can find the new Wedge Issue down here? Seems more up my alley

 

any places reasonably local to Carton sell singles of Carton? i miss trying everything in flights, but not sure I'd want a 4 pack of every beer. would have love to try the passionfruit Swishr but not sure it's my style, so a 4 wasn't gonna happen for me.

 

Where are you located?
Jersey Fine Wines in East Brunswick allows you to buy singles of anything, So does Joe Canals in woodbridge. You can buy some singles in buy rite milltown.
Fine Wines & Liquors in east brunswick has singles as well.
Buy Rite in Kearney has some singles but mostly 4 packs.

 

i'm in Middletown, but i take a trek to Joe Canal's from time to time. they allow you to buy singles that are in 4 packs? i usually go there b/c they have a good selection of singles, but are you telling me i can request others too?

 

Yes (well besides Kane) you can split up anything they have (at least that's what ive been doing and that's what I was told by the beer manager Susie).

Drinking my last wedge issue Nelson/Galaxy. Nelson is the captain now. It took over about 73% of the taste while galaxy is leaving a bitter taste (it's a good thing). They absolutely complement each other. It's just super interesting how the beer / hop combo figures things out after few weeks of chilling in the can. I hope this series is on quarter rotation (obviously different hop combo)
Simcoe / Enigma next?

 

I felt like a kid as I saw a carton delivery van pull into my driveway a few minutes ago. Had done delivery for kane to my brother's house but this was the first time during all this that a delivery came to my house. What a crazy feeling, I wonder how much longer these deliveries will be going on. I hope the murph doesn't pull the plug and lets it go all summer that would be amazing. Threads been quiet so I felt compelled to share my joy. Cheers.

Planning Jersey (I called to ask, the 3 pack bottles counted as half case towards the 2 case minimum in case anyone wants to know) 2 this town, 1 pier-t, 1 wit whale, 3 boat, 1 monkey chase weasel. Can’t wait to dig in.

Damn, I wanted Planning Jersey so bad. I didn’t realize it was still up for delivery.

 

I was hoping Planning Jersey would make until today so I could have some delivered, but people must have really jumped on it. Next year I’m gonna get down there as soon as I see it’s released.
