Heading out that way later to go geocaching and figured I would stop by a few stores. So far I plan on hitting the HyVee and the Lundeens since we are coming in from the north. Is it correct that Ballast Point can be found in Dekalb? If so, what is available right now, and where can I find it? Any info is appreciated.
Ballast Point is available in DeKalb - was just at Lundeens last night and they had two new cases of the usual. Victory@Sea is not available right now - just the usual bombers. There are two cases minus what I purchased lasted night of FW XVI just sitting on the floor however.
At BreakingBad's and PlayaPlaya...they are both stocked with Cherry Rye, and will sell them to you at discounted rate of $100 a bottle.
There are two Lundeens that you will want to check out. One is near NIU on Annie Glidden. The other is in Sycamore on rt 23. They probably have the best beer selection, and are only 15 min from each other. Although my god they will gouge you on some of the rare releases. A few of the beer guys are cool but sometimes the owners just ramp up the prices. About 5min from the Dekalb Lundeens is a meat market called Imbodens. The beer guy is great and will literally cater to your needs or help you pick out a beer. However, this is not a primary beer store. The beer prices are very expensive. Alot of hard to find brewery's and beers but you will pay mucho. The best value and the second biggest selection is Hyvee which is also in Sycamore off rt 23. Great selection and cheap beers. In my opinion, the best place to get beer in Dekalb. It seems like in the past few years Dekalb liquor stores got caught up in the craft beer scene and raised their prices. This is why it is nice to see a Hyvee. Probably the closest thing to a Binnys type environment. All in all, Dekalb sucks for beer and you will be price gouged at almost every location. So glad I graduated haha.
This is spot on ... Lundeens will absolutely gouge you ... if you're lucky enough to get a rare release there. They do lists and then pick and choose who they give it to. I got a Coffee BCS from them in St. Charles, but guess what ... it was $25 instead of $20-22 which everyone else was charging. Anyways, check out Hyvee for good prices. Cheers.
LOL Glad to see my hidden gems staying hidden muHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AND LOL at imbodens.....Support them if you want to support crooks. Gary is the only decent guy there, the owner has been known to PHYSICALLY reprimand his employees in the middle of the store right in front of customers(I speak from experience)
