I am shocked with myself for not having changed mine in a long time. This is very much unlike me. I use avatars to identify people as I'm not very good with names. Some of them are cool while others make me thing of WTF but it's all good fun. There is a lot of music-themed and sports-themed avatars in here. Possibly more than beer-related ones, which is kinda funny.

Why would one punish a poor, innocent, doggo?

I pay no attention to them. If I though about them, I'd probably change mine every now and then. Guess this really adds nothing to the thread. Oh well.

That's funny because I usually read your posts as if Belushi was screaming them.

    Why not?

Colorado Sail and Yacht Club...not that I have a sail boat or any other water craft...

Plus, I'm sure you realized I was being facetious about getting a chubby about sailing...other than a catamaran experience off of Maui during a USAFSP/IG inspection (we did have down time), I have no real experience on sail boats...but here I am on the catamaran off of Maui in 1999...the sail was great, the snorkeling even better...

In computing, an avatar is a graphical representation of a user or the user's alter ego or character. It may take either a two-dimensional form as an icon in Internet forums and other online communities or a three-dimensional form, as in games or virtual worlds.

I'm a guy who has a building for an avatar, for cryin' out loud. So my avatar opinions might not be very worthy.

Actually the Belfry of Bruges reminds me of a city that oozes architectural charm and is bursting at the seams with world class beer and wonderful bier cafes to sip them in. Somehow I find that comforting. It's my Happy Place. Is that wrong?

All avatars should be pictures of us drinking an American IPA at a Mexican restaurant. While wearing a Hogs Breath shirt and holding a table advertisement for a local brewery.

I was a tad perplexed when first joining at how many folk had avatars of middle aged, bald, overweight men passed out drunk (no idea if it was specific to the site, craft beer/beer in general, or generational)

Oh, and the many posts of beer alongside a dog giving you the side eye. For some reason, you see more cat faces as avatars?

Should at least have the empty can too.

Not that it impacts likes, but what amazes me are the women that use the question mark avatar and don't list their gender. Few if any guys would do that, so it's a give-away that they're female. Or aren't sure?

I suppose they do that to avoid unwanted attention or being disregarded as being ignorant about beer. They shouldn't have to worry about the latter, but I can see the former happening.

We are a kind and reliable bunch for the most part, and they shouldn’t be afraid to list their gender; I think.

On the Internet, nobody knows that you’re a dog.

Not sure about "all", but on another site it was definitely true (rather than them being genderqueer/non-binary, as I had hoped). Their reasons were not wanting to be treated differently or harassed

I just saw that @bbtkd has edited and added a paragraph to his post, and I’d think the same. It’s been seen on many different forums I was on over the years, especially if the women were rather young. Some corners of the internet are too fueled on testosterone unfortunately.

The funny part is the user base was nearly split down to 50/50 male/female, quite feminist/liberal in nature, and strictly moderated. Unlike "beer", the topic(s) might have leaned towards something women were more interested in
