Veil actually makes very good traditional, barrel-aged sours, they’re packaged in bottles. I agree with you on all that smoothie nonsense they put in cans, garbage imo.

Anyone try the Mylar Bags? Curious if Veil has been choosing to make less than stellar IPAs since the system upped, or if they can’t replicate them on the current system.

Choosing to make a less than stellar IPA? I think I heard it all now.

I personally enjoy their IPAs and haven’t noticed a difference but it seems most people get caught up on batch size and immediately complain.

There was a noticeable decline when the system changed. While things have improved, I think there’re still tropical flavors in old beers they haven’t put into new beers and they push them away from comparisons to places like OH, Tired Hands, Tree House, etc.

Veil obviously went a different direction when they had more control as they do with the current system. I’m not the only one who thinks their sense now is still worse than the past, or TCB.

FWIW, I thought Mylar was very good. Dry hop really pops. I haven’t had OH Mylar in ~6 months so I can’t fairly say how close it is, but I enjoyed the beer a lot.
Curbside in Norfolk is very efficient also.

Heads up if you are planning to place a NFK curbside/delivery order tomorrow. DN Enhanced and Chill BDay sold out for RVA pickup/delivery and shipping within 10 minutes. And that's with limits of 2 4pk/pp and their mention about in posts about there being plenty available for to-go and pickup.

Since it looks like there's still some of last week's cans still available you might not have a problem tomorrow but a heads up just in case.

For anyone who may have ordered / picked up NG3 Xtreme this week....

We regret to inform everyone that we have noticed some concerns with a majority(not all) of the cans exclusive to the specific canning run for Never Gonnagetit³:Xtreme. We are working tirelessly to analyze and correct this situation, but unfortunately have already canned all of this brand and began selling it before the issue truly presented itself. Throughout our packaging process we take great care in making efforts to test seams, carbonation/dissolved oxygen levels, as well as countless other quality checks of each individual packaging run. So much so, that we check 1 in every 10-18 cans and run all tests on each of them to do our best to prevent any concerns with our beers being released to the public. After all of these tests, everything appeared to be well within our specs. Unfortunately, even still, we are noticing majority of the cans of Never Gonnagetit³:Xtreme have begun leaking where the lid is seamed to the can. There is a small percentage of cans that appear to be totally fine and are not showing any signs of leakage. With that said, we are not taking any chances and have decided to pull all remaining cans of Never Gonnagetit³:Xtreme. If you have placed an order for shipping, curbside pick-up, or local delivery and have not received your cans yet, we will be refunding you for just the cans of Never Gonnagetit³:Xtreme and the rest of your order will remain valid. If you have already received cans via delivery, curbside pick-up, or your shipping order has already been shipped, if you notice any signs of leakage with your cans of Never Gonnagetit³:Xtreme and are interested in a refund, please email us at [email protected]. If you have cans of Never Gonnagetit³:Xtreme in hand and there are no signs of leakage/beer around the seam, we suggest consuming them within the next week or so just to be safe. If you notice during that time there is any sign of leakage, please email us and we will gladly refund you. We are taking this very seriously and understand that this is not something our customers expect from us. Please bear with us on communication as we’re sure there will be many questions and requests asked of us and it will take some time for us to get through these all. Please accept our sincere apologies. Thank you for your understanding and the overwhelming support lately. It means more to us than we can express. Stay healthy and safe friends!

Does anyone know if they allow proxies to pickup orders from the Richmond breweries? My sister in law lives outside Richmond, and I am wanting her to grab me some cans to ship to me. Any help is appreciated.

No proxies for curbside pick up. Ordering online and picking up is a pretty easy process though, if you walk her through it. They ship to VA also.

Given that The Veil does ship in VA, it might be easier for you if you order shipping to her house and just have her ship that box to you. In other words, it might not be worth the hassle for her of having to go to the brewery, package up the beer, and send it to you. If she gets it prepackaged by The Veil, all she'll have to do is get a shipping label and send out the beer without having to do the in between stuff. Just food for thought.

You'd end up paying like an extra $4 per can if you went that route. Basing that off my Veil order which I was charged $25 to ship 12 cans. If cost doesn't matter, this wold be the easiest way for sure.

If she lives inside the delivery area, you can just pay the $5 delivery fee and then have her package everything up and ship it. Cans are pretty easy to pack, even for someone with no experience shipping beer.

@chitownfanatic21 . I would agree with the method @Sheppard described. It may cost a little extra but the hassle of packing things up securely will be eased by just having veil do it and your sister simply slap a new label on the box she received by Veil. I've not done the shipping meothod yet but last time I checked it was about $26/case shipped and a little over $40 for 2 cases.

Curbside is definitely very easy if you do want to save that extra expense and have her pick it up, packaged and ship for you. I'm not sure how strict they are about all of the no proxy details but also keep in mind that in addition to the person who placed the order being the person who picks it up the name on the credit card used also has to match the person who's picking it up.

I've been using curbside pickup ever since it was offered in Norfolk and not one time have I been asked to show my ID or the credit card used to place the order. I roll up, park in a spot and wait for them to come out. They ask for a name and order number and radio it in to the people inside who then grab the order and put it in my backseat. Not sure if they are checking these things at the RVA location but all you need to pickup curbside in Norfolk is the name and order number.

Am I understanding correctly that Veil only shows local delivery options on the website when they're actually available? I.e. if I'm looking right now to have something delivered to a friend locally, and my only options are local pickup or shipping, does that mean they don't have any delivery slots available for today?

I'm looking to have some delivered to a local Richmond friend and wanted to see how the checkout options look before new releases on Wednesday. i'm assuming I can use my credit card, enter my Georgia billing address and then have product delivered to a local Richmond address? May sound like a stupid question, but since the only options I'm seeing are pickup or local shipping I thought I'd ask.
