There is no sense that hazy ipa trends are declining where I am, however there seems to be an increase in lager hype recently indicating it may be a new trend. @Domingo and @ManBearPat have also indicated such in local forums. I was poking fun at the whole trend chasing crowd, I was drinking some tasty brown ale the other night. People are missing out on some great beer chasing hip styles.

Question #2 ZD Wines gave FW a cease and desist letter around 2011 cause they had a Cabernet Sauvignon by the same name (Abacus).

Everytime I'm at my favorite brewery, there's a always a 1st time visitor who walks in and asks the bartenders: "You got any hazies?" My blood boils.

[I like haze and non-haze. And that brewery mostly does unfiltered for their hoppy beers, but they don't fit (nor do the brewers particularly like) the juicy NE profile. They're generally more hybrid, but they have produced a juice bomb here and there.]

Yeah, I am seeing that too in my area. It seems that every year there are more locally brewed Pilsners on the shelves to a lesser rate Helles (but there are more Helles beers as well).

The shelf size is not increasing so some other beers styles are getting squeezed here. Perhaps Brown Ale, English style beers, etc. I can report that the number of German brewed beers has significantly decreased at my stores over the past few years which I attribute to slow rates of purchasing which exacerbates the 'old beer' situation (which further decreases purchases).

    Cheers!

Colorado is lager crazed right now. Literally everyone is making one. We're fortunate to have some world-class examples, but it weirds me out at the same time. I honestly can't tell if people honestly like them or if it's just the next hazecan thing. I guess whatever puts money in the Bierstadt coffers is okay with me.

Oakshire Brewing has had a Double IPA called The Perfect Storm for a long time. Either Oakshire had prior art or otherwise negotiated the rights to the name.

I too have soloed a Black Tuesday. Iirc it was the only beer of the evening and spread out over 3-4 hours of sipping and not too hard to handle. It got better as I worked my way through the bottle, being drunk probably helped.

I think it works out to 8 +/- standard beers. Not too crazy. I was just curious.

Do they have to wear a sign that indicates it is their first time there, or can you just tell?

Well I'm a regular, so there's that. But as I said, their hoppy beers generally are unfiltered and hazy (but not juicy) so it's not a question you would ask if you have been there before.
