Its great stuff..really "authentic" and conditioning in cask leaves a nice soft mouth feel.

Damn. If this keeps up, pretty soon I won't be buying anything but Barley Brown beer when I go to the store.

Just finished a Built for Speed, and it might be the best beer I've had from Grains of Wrath. I'd put this up against some of the better West Coast-meets-juicy/hazy ipas I've had.

I appreciate the fact that brewers are trying to come up with creative ways to move product, and if this works for them, then that's great. However, beers from these breweries are available all over town, so it's not clear to me what advantage there would be to driving over to Old Town for what's essentially a pop up beer market (with limited merchandise). At least in my experience, finding places where I can purchase a wide selection of craft beer has not been a particularly arduous task during the pandemic.

I'm in the same boat, if I can support a local brewery AND a local grocery/beer store at the same time, that's more appealing to me.

They suggest in the article that they'll be selling the "latest releases", whatever that means. I think this would have some unique value if they were packaging some draft-only beers from their pubs, or selling things that would normally be pub-only limited releases. In the current state of affairs, I personally would not make a trip for this. Of course I do I hope this is wildly successful for them and our PNW beer culture remains relatively intact over the course of the year.

Likewise. I took "latest releases" to mean the current range of cans and bottles I can find at pretty much any beer store in town (and likely most grocery stores as well). If they would offer something a bit more unusual or unique (like you mentioned), then this would have a lot more appeal for me. However, there was no mention of that in the article, so I assume that's not going to be the case.

I'm trying to do what I can to support the local craft beer industry during the pandemic, but most of these events (pop up markets, virtual festivals, virtual tasting events, etc.) don't seem to offer anything really new or different, and mostly they just seem to be aimed at getting me to spend even more money on beer than I currently do. The last thing I need to do is to increase my current beer consumption over what is already a pretty significant norm.

If Reuben's is bringing down some of the things you have to be in Seattle to get (or live in Washington to have shipped), I'm in. Or if the Crikey is fresh.

Agreed on not needing help spending my money. de Garde is making that very easy for me way too often!

Same here, and my guess is that goes for a lot of people. It would clearly be a draw, all by itself. Which is all the more reason why I'm fairly certain that's not happening.

If they were offering some of the beers you typically need to be in Seattle to buy (brewery only releases), I have to think that would be the sort of thing they'd want to advertise in the article (as that would be a huge draw). The fact they didn't make any mention of it tends to make me think that they're just going to be selling whatever is currently already available in our market.

Eh, I don't know about that. From what I've "heard", breweries that had kegged stuff, and stuff in tanks that it no longer makes sense to keg, are packaging what would usually be brewery/draft beers, or else it's down the drain.

If you use social media more than I do, it might be interesting to keep an eye on RedTwitGram day of, cuz, who knows?

Thanks for the tip Terry (had never heard of RedTwitGram).

I don't disagree with you (on the contrary), but I would expect they would post something like that in the article. That would be a game changer for a lot of people (me, for example).

While I'm not going to bother to go to this pop-up for beers I can easily obtain over at John's, I'd be over there in a heartbeat this Saturday if I thought they might be selling something I normally can't obtain around town.

Well, I was a bit unclear, maybe the breweries haven't decided exactly what they're sending yet, depending on what they do, or do not, have closer to the moment.

Or not. Shit is sometimes confusing these days......

I don't think the organizers know exactly what they'll have yet. That's what I got from an exchange I saw on Facebook recently:

Q: Is there a website to pre order and check out what beers/ciders will be available?
A (from Old Town Brewing): [W]e are currently finalizing the site and beer menus with the other breweries and will announce that as soon as it's live (early next week)

My take is that they are trying something more akin to a farmer's market, including making it be a community/neighborhood thing, as opposed to it being a destination that people would go to (like, say, the Saturday market. )

    I hope not!

You can still order their beer through DoorDash / Grassa. Their DigitalPour listing still works too. They were never very big on an internet presence and I hope that’s all this is...
