I’ve heard Pub in Ball Square in Somerville actually has some of the best buffalo wings around. The chef is from Buffalo if I recall correctly. I think they grill them.

I'll have to check these wings out. I prefer grilled wings to fried wings personally.

I'm no expert, but I've heard that's the way they're actually done in Buffalo.

    Ha, figured.

So is there any special way that they're done there?

Or are they not any better in Buffalo than here?

I hope I don't get murked by a Buffalonian but I don't think it's better in Buffalo. They're Buffalo wings, of course, they're delicious. But Buff's, Anchor, Gabriel's Gate, they're good, but just that.

Having spent a lot of time living out there but not being a native, I'd say that you can consistently get better wings in western New York than here, but the differences at the top end are pretty minor (and it's definitely much easier to get truly bad wings around here). Fundamentally, everybody is pretty much deep frying factory farmed chicken wings and tossing them in some combination of franks red hot and fat. I will say that the wing places out there also seem to be more likely to order whatever the largest size wings are from their suppliers, and the ubiquity of wings means the frying time/temp is pretty much locked in everywhere upstate.

This has been WingAdvocate. We now return to your regularly scheduled pourgramming.

Keep in mind that CBC’s are not actually wings, they are boneless tenders.

Been to CBC twice recently and the growler selection is impressive and affordable. 64 ounces of Jack Straw for $16 last month.

Last few years they have been some serious stuff in growlers. It has been awesome. Unfortunately, haven’t been since like January.

Great news! Always a favorite of mine. Looks like smaller 375ml bottles too.

"Today we’re tapping a *really* special CBC beer, You Enjoy My Stout, a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. This expression of You Enjoy My Stout was brewed in January, and aged in American bourbon whiskey barrels before being reunited in its current mellifluous state. Expect deep bass lines of cacao and espresso, with power chords of roasted malt and fresh spirit. At 10% ABV, this brew means business. Limited edition special bottling coming soon!"

C'mon Will! Get these limited edition bottles ready! YEMS is awesome.

Anyway, anyone know if the CBC to-go fridge still has any bottles of Benevolence available? I know they did a limited run, but it isn't listed as available to go on the website

    It’s listed at $28, anyone know if it’s a 32oz or a 64oz growler?

I’m assuming it’s 64–only a guess though. I say that because I’ve never seen them release anything but 64 oz. growlers. But I haven’t been to CBC since before the onset of COVID.

The real question is whether they are serving towers of YEMS for on-site enjoyment!
