It’s in the same genre, Delirium, Rince cochon, or any of those. Duvel or Chouffe are in a whole different league, IMO.

Back at it again after a few hours of laying mulch down and weeding and then took a quick drive down to the beach to enjoy my last day of my 4-day weekend. To quote the great Frank the Tank, “once it hits your lips....” Delicious.

I've never had anything from this brewery out of Hood River, OR. Let's see how it tastes. Cheers!

Very nice warm day out. Up to 88 high for today. I went to Meijers and got some meat and vegetables. I am having pork tenderloin and brussel sprouts tonight. I was having a brussel sprout craving this week, so it was amazing. I got a store brand tenderloin and dry rubbed the whole thing. No marinade. Perfectly roasted to 155F in the center. Added Valentina sauce over the whole arrangement. I actually did look at other hot sauce today, but the price of Valentina is far better than anything else lol.

Old Nation M-43. Amazing NEIPA as always. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, grassy, zesty, citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; very creamy, bready, grainy wheat/oats, and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very dank/juicy hops, with perfect wheat, oat, malt malt balance. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness, amazing soft feel. Super easy drinking. Glad to have this as a year round available beer. This is one of my top most purchased beers ever at the moment. It just doesn't get any better for the style vs availability. Every Old Nation NEIPA is better than most anything else I've had in the state. DDH is just as impressive; but a bit more bitter, resinous, dank, and earthy.

Discovered this band right now on the Spotify Prog Metal playlist. Very similar to Leprous. Apparently they have opened for them in shows. Sign me up!

Second and final pour today, Spiteful Brewing's IPA with Tangerine. Another great offering by the very underrated Spiteful Brewing, will pick this up again after I complete my commitment to clearing my substantial beer on hand.

The celebration of Miles Davis' birthday is still in full force, may the tunes and pours be with you today and always.

    Cheers!

I'm not supposed to be drinking right now but it turns out I have poor self control. YOLO

This is absolutely delicious. So much coconut. I kinda feel like an asshole for not doing a proper review since I have wanted to try this so long... needless to say it is a winner

I can't believe this is a budget BBA stout. It is amazing. Give me this over BCBS anyday. BCBS feels like Goose Island dumped a bottle of bourbon into their base beer. That isn't my style.

This one tastes like *barrel* rather than bourbon. The barrels compliment the base beer rather than overwhelming it. I love you Sierra Nevada this is the realest shit ever.

I had a fresh bottle of this at an Irish Pub in Bonn yesterday which was just great, so I bought one at a shop today, which I thought was just as fresh, but I was sadly mistaken and this tastes much worse, pretty much like I remember it. Really pisses me off actually, I was looking forward to this. I really wish I had the option of not buying beer without a filling date... :grimacing:

Did you come and rob my glassware and fridge? I have drank that same beer out of that same glass a hundred times now. It is my go to local IPA.

This is a stellar, fucking stellar, pilsner. Easy to drink. Grassy, citric, kind of a funky bread thing going which is strangely awesome.

I have these in my cellar, and I'm looking forward to cracking open a bottle based on your review when we get a cooler day to ensure maximum coconut. However, I have a much different experience with Bourbon County Stout, which to me and many others have a near perfect or perfect balance of base stout to bourbon.

I have had several "booze bombs" over the years from other brewers which I will not call out here. While some BCS variants have disappointed over the years (last major disappointment was the Vanilla Bomb from 2018), their base beer has always been on point, at least for my palate.

Cheers, and word to your mother!

I can only speak for myself, but I drank both 2017 and 2018 BCBS in 2020 and both were way overly boozy for my palate. The Narwhal is dangerous I bet I could pound the entire 4-pack if I felt like it since it is just that smooth. I struggle to finish a single bottle of BCBS.

I know we all have different tastes buck if you have some of these on deck I highly suggest you check one out. To me it is massive on the coconut and vanilla and mininum on the booze. It doesn't feel like ~12% and I bet I could chug a pint under a minute. If I tried to chug BCBS you would be laughing at me while I puked in the bathroom.

This is smooth AF, but if you are looking for pure bourbon this isn't what you want. If you like Narwhal and want to see what a barrel can add to it than this is heaven on earth.
