I think you're spot on that many people probably don't max out but that it could increase the number of people able to get it. That said, with COVID I don't think they want TOO many people coming through. Also depends on the payment fees. I honestly don't know this answer... But would be interested.. What cut does their payment service get? A percentage (in which case selling $100 of beer to one person versus $20 to 5 people makes zero difference... Or if it's per payment/customer. I know Troon does what they can but have complained about the fees they eat since things have all gone online.
Not sure what better system though they could have. Even with another 50 allotments, if you're not willing to have an Instagram alert on there's a good chance you're missing out anyway. At least it's not Troon and if you're changing a diaper you're done for. And troons timing has been crazy relative to TE. Honestly I don't think TE can win here in terms of making everyone happy. But at least they're canning unlike conclave with these crowlers.
As for alchemist its been everywhere and nowhere. Plenty of bigger chains (Wegmans/canals) and independents got it, but often in tiny amounts and big markups. Should be dropping again this week. Philly just got theirs, so if it follows similarly maybe this week. It's they Hunterdon so if you ask them (email or DM on Instagram) that's going to be the best bet. But some places charged $7-8 per can with a 1-2 can limit. Others $17-20/4 pack without clear limits.

I agree, not gonna make everyone happy. I actually have IG notifications turned on, and they usually don't come in real time (for me) so I end up missing. For me though, as long they stay afloat that's all I really care about. I'll be back at the tap room in full force once they're open and I'm comfortable.

That used to happen for some people. I think the fix has to do with how your phone handles IG in the background (I think either performance or battery settings). But yeah, there's tons of good beer out there, and definitely more than anything else I want to see quality breweries like TE survive. Yale terrace... Maybe not so much.

There's a separate Alchemist thread in NJ New Releases that has a lot of detail. But Alchemist worked out a deal with Hunterdon Distributing to do a limited drop in NJ during the first week of May. My local shop in Morristown received 4 cases of Heady and 1 case of Focal Banger and they saved me a pack of each. Some have said it's a one-time drop because Alchemist isn't kegging as much as usual due to Covid. But I've also heard there will be a second drop soon. Time will tell.

Lot of info in here, but I've never seen more than 4 4pk PP allotment offered and that's only been on the biggest qty releases.. others are often 2 4pk pp... but agree, with the online sales which makes it easier/faster for many people to buy, and the amount of beer they can make its impossible to satisfy everyone.

BTW new crowler just put up, so everyone should be able to get this: Battle Hymn, 5.8% pale ale…

you're right - only 2 were 1cs per person. True Believers, Split, SY, all Together were 4x, saga and swarm were 3x. LSY fruit and weepel were 2x. I suppose it's more about total allotments, like swam was 3x at 60ish cases while LSY was 1cs at 130 cases. Theyre definitely getting their cans in much more hands than they used to - which is really good growth.

I don't miss doing a drive-by 30 minutes before opening - seeing a line and just continuing to drive since it wasn't worth it for a single 4pk when I can just get a growler filled with ease.

saw this earlier.. will be interesting to see if TEB takes advantage of this somehow.. its a bit unclear what it really means, as the article describes allowing businesses to:
"apply for temporary permits expanding the area where they are allowed to serve alcohol. Approved businesses would be allowed to use areas such as decks, patios, sidewalks and parking lots as long as they are accessible from the serving establishment" ....TEB already has a permit / license to use the patio. I doubt they'd be allowed to utilize the parking lot for additional space, given the existing businesses there. Will be great though if they are allowed to open up the outdoor space soon

I guess with social distancing TE could allow about 15 drinkers on the patio. Even if they could use the parking lot they don't have any movable tables. I hope they give it a shot.
