Thank you so much for being proactive. When more and more people do this type of thing, we can change the world.

To quote Todd.... "This has nothing to do with politics. This is a human rights issue."

This is great. Thanks @Todd and BA. Real change requires action by everyone, whether they consider themselves part of the problem or not. Cheers!

What you quoted has nothing to do with the content of Todd's post.

But they’re using this tragedy to further their political goals, imo they care nothing about the victim they’re seizing an opportunity . Not the first time either. To the grieving people and most everyone in America it is exactly a human right issue, this was completely appalling and the other 3 need to be arrested and charged, then jailed when convicted.

I grew up and live in NJ. It’s not everywhere in NJ, but it’s definitely present. Look at any post on NJ.com and check the comments. Lots of in-state people. People keep it quieter up north, but it’s there.

Yes it's too bad that there are racist people in the Government and the police that caused all this to happen .
Imagine if racists were all put in jail this world would be a better world
    Thank Todd

This is not supportive. If you think that’s happening, more power to you, but that’s not what this movement needs from you and it would be better to just stay out of it.

Often times it’s outside agitators, but even if it’s not: this society has failed to hear the cries about this all along. I don’t even experience this racism and I’m mad enough to think breaking some shit is justified.

    People over property.

White people have perpetuated racism in this country since the days of slavery. It’s not the same thing. If we ever get past this racism and white supremacy stuff in the US, great, let’s go with this rule. While we are where we are now? White people (myself included) can let it roll off their back for awhile.

You're still not getting it. I get your reference, and, yes, Jesus loves the little children of the world, but I greatly suspect Jesus would be wearing a Black Lives Matter T-shirt if he were here today.

Some folks point out that there are bad apples. They leave off the second part of the saying, which is that a few bad apples spoil the bunch. You almost couldn’t choose a worse saying.

It’s incumbent upon good cops to report bad cops, otherwise they aren’t really that good. It’s incumbent on white people to be anti-racist, certainly by now, otherwise we are also complicit.

Thank you for taking this stand. I agree. This is NOT political, it's a question of human rights! Don't be lenient, please know you have my support in weeding out offensive posters.

We’re not going to agree here so I’m done on this. I’m not trying to change anyone mind here but opinions vary.

Me and my wife left the cesspool known as Facebook about 2 months ago. All of a sudden food taste better and the air seems cleaner.

What kind of people post hateful and racist comments on a site that rewievs beer? What is their problem? Good decision to just throw them out. Don't speak with them. I'm afraid it's useless.
Ban racism and hate shit - all lives matter equally. And have a beer

Almost... white people have perpetuated racism since they came over from Spain, England, and France, and systematically murdered, destroyed, and nearly eradicated my ancestors from the face of the planet.

I was very happy to read this announcement. It is an awesome step in the right direction, putting the Advocate in BeerAdvocate!

With that said, I hope you're open to some criticism of this process.

I would like it if this felt a little more like, "Perhaps we haven't always made this clear or done a great job with it, but we are always looking for a more diverse team with a broader set of experiences and perspectives to help us address community issues," than "we need black people to help us find the racists and delete their posts."

This first aims to address community and build a more inclusive one with fewer issues of insensitivity and a more nuanced understanding of those issues.. The second feels more l the type of burdening that's historically fallen on people of color to do the bulk of the work when it comes to handling issues on race. It's dodging the responsibility, which I know is not your intent.

It also feels like the original post is using racism and prejudice/bigotry somewhat interchangeably. Prejudice and bigotry are ugly, but prejudice + power is racism.

Also I hope this doesn't make BA a place where we're afraid to let race come up at all. All of us have a race and that race impacts the way we live. It is important to be able to talk about race with some set of community guidelines/agreement, to be allowed to get it wrong sometimes but still responsible for the impact of getting it wrong, regardless of intent.

But damn do we have a lot of problems to address here in the city when it comes to addressing racism.

Describing a "far left" opposite "far right" when it comes to race is damaging, racist and exemplifies how politicized equity work has become. I think I agree with you on what "far right" means, but I encourage you to think about what the opposite end of that scale should be.

I think a few of the more recent posters on here are missing the point. Todd doesn't want this shitshow on BeerAdvocate, maybe appreciate his message and leave it at that.
