    YOU GET DE SHOW!!

I've been a faithful Lebatard listener for years now - love everything about it. Its funny cause my wife is a Cuban from Miami, and its helped me learn a lot about her family down there, so I get what you're saying.

You just became my best friend - and maybe watch your porch. :grinning:

I'm not Cuban, but it's really impossible to explain to another "white" person. When they put things in Cuban terms, in terms of immigrants and minorities, it's like I'm part of the family. My ethnicity is extremely European (Scottish-German), but my background and heritage ... well, it's Cuban. That's how I grew up.

When I hear about Cuban successes? I feel pride - even while knowing I never faced the same struggles. Cuban food? I didn't help create it, nor did my ancestors, but damned if I can't educate everyone north of Miami on how they totally don't understand the incredible nature of a perfectly executed pork Croquetta, Lechon, Cafe Cubano, Media Noche, guava pastry, perfect Cuban flan, or even a simple Cuban sandwich (invented in Tampa, surprisingly ... but then, I've lived there twice, too  ).

I don't miss a single episode, even though I'm always catching up after it airs. I even make my partner listen to the Looks-Like Game, while I Google the people (because she doesn't know sports) - and she loves it!

    Cheers, brother.

LOL, you're just Miami. Miami is a Cuban city. I totally get it.
Ok, so hilarious story. Back when I was first getting to know my now wife, I went over there for a dinner with some friends. I offered to help out with food, so she hands me ingredients and asks me to whip up dessert ... a Flan. I had literally never even heard of Flan. So I follow the instructions, make flan and it turned out ok. Then her family comes into town later that week and her dad ate the rest of the flan - he said it tasted good, so I guess it passed muster. :joy:
Looks like game is the best, but even better is the looks like game with Kurkjian giggling over them.

Haha I introduced my partner to Looks Like with the tourney, but then had to go back into the YouTube archives for the Tim K. interviews, because he's just such a genuinely good guy, and the way he completely loses it is one of the purest moments of joy in the world. :grinning:

My grandmother's neighbor used to make us homemade flan. Raised by her, I grew up one lot away from Calle Ocho, the most famous street in all of Miami. I rarely find flan that meets my high bar, so if your wife's family approved of your flan, it must have been good!

There are very, very few cities in the US with the same kind of "feel" as Miami. Screening people from all over the US for over 20 years, if you ask where they're from, you typically get: "Florida." "Michigan." "Texas." (Yes, the entire damn state!) There are very few places where people identify with their home city, as opposed to state. Miami and NYC are perhaps the only guarantees; when asked, "Where are you from?" pretty much everyone from Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, Niceville, etc. will say, "Florida." Every Miamian, without exception, will say, "Miami." It's in our blood.

Love this post, and two words really jumped out at me: "guava pastry." Uh . . . ISO.

A not-totally-complete photo of @Roguer 's most recent ninja box. Not pictured are another bottle of Ghost and a can of Parish Braincake, both of which I drank before I remembered to take a picture. I've been drooling over the Parish Reve Coffee Stout so much that I might do something I rarely do (and the GF definitely disapproves of): drink it for breakfast. Maybe even tomorrow, for NBS. Thanks, brother!

I lived in Austin for a couple of years, and a lot of folks there were the same way, mostly, I gathered, because they didn't want to identify with the rest of Texas. Weirdly, Texas is the state where I met the most random O'Rears, which is not a common name anywhere. Lots of us in Crystal City for some reason.

My box finally out and hit to Nick in NY. Last week we got a huge shipment of super fresh beer from about everywhere, well Greensboro did. Stuff here in Burlington is still old shit, hell even the Total Wine in Greensboro had like 3 month old Pernicious and it’s usually under 2 weeks old. So Nick enjoy.

Thanks for the box @SicDub, I used it to send out a ninja strike this morning. Someone should be watching their back.

Whoa- got my LIF box from @2beerdogs and was blown away! I was expecting one Sticky Maple and perhaps a couple others, but he was going for porch damage!
12 pints, mostly IPAs- I think he’s trying to get me intoxicated or something.
details to follow, but I had to get these into the beer fridge stat!
Thanks man, that’s a hard LIF to follow!

Wish there was still some truly local sports talk in my vicinity. The local, Spokane based show carried by the local ESPN affiliate was cancelled outright, a Covid-19 casualty. Closest sports talk now comes out of Seattle, 300 miles away, on the other end of the state, and almost never touches on the local sports here, even Gonzaga during the college basketball season.

Actually, I need to apologize to you and @JayORear ... That Fuzzy Logic is meh. I shipped that on faith before I tried it. It's not bad, just not that interesting. And remember, all of that Beachwood is actually from Arthur... @thebeers

OH...PS. Once I held off on shipping, I held off an extra week for that 3 from Offshoot. It's really good, if you're not a haze hater.

Not a haze hater at all, just can't keep up with them all! I've been meaning to post more info (including the opinions of the two I've tried so far) but life has a way of intruding on my play time. Regardless of meh or not, I always enjoy at least trying something new, and between you and Jay I will be pretty well versed in IPA data from CA.
    Cheers!

Okay, so with thanks to @2beerdogs who was so generous with his LIF and to @thebeers who provided me the necessary name, here are the beers sent:
The Bruery Sticky Maple (more on that soon)
    Fuzzy Logic Pie vs Pie
    Fuzzy Logic Fuzzy Peach IPA
    Modern Times Hazy Mosaic
    Chapman Crafted Scenic Route
    Beachwood Amalgamator
    Beachwood Citraholic
    Beachwood Fog Factor
    Revision Sparkle Muffin
    Pizza Port’s Swami’s IPA
Offshoot Brewery 3 (at least I think that’s the name)
    Smog City Amarilla Gorilla
So all but one arrived in near perfect condition- Sticky Maple had a tiny dent in the top edge which allowed a few drops out into the zip lock, so once it was stabilized ( no rocket stories today!) I poured it into the goblet. Very small head, but with the abv I wasn’t worried about that, the aroma was heavy on the sweet but not as heavy as the taste. Wow, I don’t know if it’s meant to be so sweet but I suspect not- the little leak let out some of the carbonation which often will counter some of that sweet. Still, drank every drop and enjoyed it.
    Thanks again!

Showers and Small Mosaic Everything by Other Half

    Thanks @larryi86 !!!
