This one is hitting me just right, I've been looking forward to making my way through the Ommegang portfolio... this is first.

At this point, it’s not even about the soccer. I’m in my mid-40s now (ugh, shoot me) and I have awful lineage and I drink pretty much every day. Running (and working out in general) keeps me right.

 

Ok, I'll throw it out there. My pop's is a two tour Vietnam vet, turned King County police, worked on the task force that caught the Green River Killer. A provider? sure. A Father no. In fact the only time he has ever called me was to ask to move in to MY house when my little sister got knocked up with my niece out of wedlock.

Do I like him? No. Will I help my Mom? absolutely.

You soccer players and runners have my respect. I hike/walk 20+ a week usually, but with my gout flares popping up it gets hard to shuffle a mile flat yet alone over broken terrain. Today was a "good day" but I had to do house stuff. This week was about 10 miles. Need to get back at it, thanks for the inspiration!

Been down that road my friend. Four times.

 

I'm 60+, have the worst diet imaginable, drink waaay too much, and I still can't find a reason to run across the street.

It's like the old story: there's two bulls, one young, one old, standing on top of a hill, overlooking a field full of beautiful cows. The young bull says "I'm gonna run down there and fuck one of those cows!" The old bull says "go ahead. I'm gonna walk down there, and fuck all of them."

Old age and experience will win out over youth and enthusiasm every time.

 

Tough situation for sure. I'm sure you'll make your mom very proud.
