It seems every company advertises themselves as "all natural", "handcrafted", and "local" these days. I can't remember who came out with a commercial lately (it was one of the "big boys")... could have been Michelob? describing their product in similar terms.

Perhaps at one time it meant something, but as we've seen, craft breweries are willing to sue one another, sell out, deceive their customers... its not enough to simply be "craft" (there are some folk who believe craft is always superior quality, or support for more ethical reasons).

Lots of regional breweries in the states were doing "craft" before craft was a thing!

Habanero Sculpin is a great beer and an 86 BA score is too low.

@bergbrew would know whether this beer is brewed at August Schell.

    Cheers!

Which 'NEIPA' beers have you tasted?

These sorts of beers are very delicate and I would imagine any US brewed version would be in really bad shape once they arrive to Europe.

    Cheers!

P.S. FWIW I am personally at a point where all of the various 'NEIPA' beers (plenty available to me) pretty much taste the same to me: combo of mostly tropical fruit accompanied with some citrus and a very smooth mouthfeel.

    Dude. Hauenstein is great.

    Bought a 12'er of Howie's a few weeks ago.

    Almost certain it is.

Outstanding IPAs are really hard to drink outside in the heat straight from the can/bottle. An ice cold AALs beat them most every time in those situations.

Wicked Weed still makes world class wild fermented ales if you are capable of not letting beer politics influence your ratings/reviews.

I’ve never seen a beer become undrinkable. It’s still liquid right?

    1. People who refer to "lager" as a single beer style should have to do an internship at Weihenstephaner or Hacker-Pschorr for a year. Or considering the difficulty of traveling abroad in these pandemic times, Live Oak or von Trapp will suffice.

    2. The average score of pilseners and all English pale ales (bitters, milds, IPAs, et. al.) here on BA.com should be well over 4.0 and at least 15-25% higher than the average score of the American pale ale styles.

    3. Lactose should be outlawed for all purposes.

I hope you'll forgive me for saying that this is such an American comment. There are plenty of excellent NEIPAs being brewed all over Europe, including Germany, so there really is no need to drink US brewed versions. The USA does not have some kind of monopoly on well-made NEIPAs.

I long ago predicted the beer loving countries of continental Europe would grow to love American style IPA, and it follows that since the best brewers are found in Europe, the best IPA likely would be brewed in Europe. While I haven't tasted any myself, I know from other social media that in Europe the brewers and drinkers of modern IPA styles are just as passionate about them as we are here.

any brewery who only has IPAs, sours and stouts in its repetoire is not impressive to me.

Similar, if I go to a festival and you have four beers available to try and all of them are IPAs, Im walking right by your table without a second thought
