Citra is definitely the hop cheat code.

I've gone back to a few extract batches this past year, and I'm amazed by not only how great they've turned out, but how quickly you can whip up a batch compared to AG brewing. Also, the comfort of brewing over your kitchen stove in the winter time is another huge perk

I would do extract for a kettle sour but never any other style. I like Fine control too much.

I've brewed well over 100 batches all-grain on my stovetop, never brewed any other way. I don't own a propane setup or robot. One to four kettles on the stove has served me very well. Fortunately my family is not bothered by the smells of malt and hops in the house for days afterwards.

No one really understands water. Lots of people can talk about cations and anions, but never a consensus on what profile is best fit for different styles. If I were to poll 10 "experts" there would be something like 13 different answers.

This is my feeling too, I don't give to poos about your experimental varietal...

Another one I firmly believe is that water profile doesn't really matter. Use your ground water if you have a a safe well and call it good.

It could be that there is no right answer, and that profiles are generally phony constructs.

    Cheater wannabe!?!?

Nah....I like reading all the posts from the homebrewers

    5% ABV is perfect.

Homebrewers are more concerned than others when it comes to beer clean glasses.

Yes! I never really write off ingredients. Still feels like cheating regardless

It most certainly does with certain beer styles/types. For example I can homebrew Belgian styles like Trappist/Abbey Ales, Saisons, etc. much more cheaply (from an ingredient perspective) than what it would cost me to buy. Plus those beers are much fresher!

Some folks would bring in an argument of labor costs but I personally never consider any of my hobbies as costing me labor time.

    Cheers!

I brew a ton of Belgians and ipas so I do actually believe I’ve saved money over the past 8 years despite having a grand or more in equipment.

I am a 95% homebrew drinker Jack. It takes a lot of beer to break 1000 dollars.

Same, but extract is great for when I have a bunch of leftover hops in the freezer that I need to get rid of, and am looking to just fill a keg
