Beer in bottles tastes better than beer from cans.

You likely know this but Bud is made with "real rice".

    Cheers!

I don't know that for a fact. And still, I don't like the taste of Budweiser or Bud Light despite them using real rice or rice syrup. Not sure if it is the yeast or what, but I get a subtle artificial floral, almost apricot fruity, flintstone chewable hard vitamin flavor. Same with Michelob Ultra and Hamms. Coors just barely has flavor (sour water when warm was my first impression), Heineken tastes boring and skunky, Miller Lite is just bitter and hoppy seemingly refreshing, and High Life is pretty smooth for me. Not sure if I've had PBR. I usually don't seek out those beers. I'd be happy to have a Boston Lager over them all, which is also pretty mainstream.

I'm of a small group that thinks Mosaic tastes bad in NEIPAs. I can't necessarily pick out it out in traditional/west coasters.

Well, by all reporting it is a fact but if you do not trust AB well...
I personally can't comment to those descriptors but the AB house lager yeast does produce a flavor that tastes like apple to some folks.

    Cheers!

Homebrewers appreciate beer more than the average beer advocate.

I can certainly attest to the fact that the half dozen or so batches of beer I brewed (8 years ago with very mixed results) did more than anything else I can think of to increase my appreciation of beer and respect for brewers

BUD is the best American macro out there. It has the snap and bite that a US Macro needs to make it halfway away from the water that it is. I would hold it against any other US macro and don't give me this sissy bullshit "it gives me a headache" turn in your f-in mancard damnit!!!! Love it but won't pay the price it seems to command at times give me a Narragansett 30 pack at $16.99.....

AND putting a barleywine or RIS in a barrel is way over done. Love me say Southern Tier Creme Brulee or a coffee or pastry stout but barrels I could do with out for the most part....

From a post I made in the AB-InBev vs Duvel thread:

Everything we dislike about AB-InBev beers is an intentional character of their beer. IOW, they choose to make it like that. It was not because they didn't know HOW to make it different.

Perhaps better filed under the "grinds my gears category" but what is it with the abundance of 16-oz cans out there? This isn't a beer v. glass conniption; it's a--since my college years when I could easily chug beer by the pitcher and kill a keg--change in that I feel 'extended' after drinking one pint and downright full after drinking two. I like to drink different beers during a session, so a 12-oz can is much more preferable. I really don't like 16 oz-cans. I want a 12-oz resurgence.

I assume you mean, for example, Pilsners vs. other Pilsners, or Maibocks vs. other Maibocks?

Because I sure as hell can taste the difference between a Doppelbock and a Pilsner.

Ha, I read this and thought, “I dunno what I’ve been doing, just kinda arbitrarily liking stuff.”

Good IPAs only exist in the USA. Kidding, was just trying to be controversial.

    Pilsners ARE lagers.

    Ok here goes:

I’ll go out drinking during the pandemic.

I won’t go out drinking the pandemic.

I think those are both sufficiently controversial right now.

Yes, hence my use of "Lager styles" instead of just "Lagers" :stuck_out_tongue:.

Exactly! Why rate a style you don't care for? There are exceptions, of course. But you will not see me review a sour or oatmeal stout.

I so strongly disagree with that that I do not even know how to express my thoughts.

It seems like you are essentially saying you’d prefer to sacrifice a superior product in favor of an inferior one, so long as that inferior one is local.

Breweries have to learn as they go. Sometimes there’s honkers, which are probably palatable enough for them to try getting some funds back. Too much variance in palates, so who knows what’s going to be a “winner.”

Same. Where the hell (in the US at least) is Cantillon sitting on the shelves? I have not seen Cantillon on a shelf in a beer store/bottle shop since 2011. No hyperbole there, I am being 100% truthful and I remember it distinctly, I was briefly living in New Orleans and one small bottle shop had a couple Cantillons. I’ve lived several places since, traveled throughout much of the US, and have gone to bottle shops hundreds of times and have not seen a single Cantillon on a shelf since.

Anyone with shelf Cantillon available hit me up I’m sure we can work something out trade wise.
