Only thing I can think of is that the wax on the b5 had some 'cracking' issues right around the cap. I e-mailed TG shortly after that and noted that it was a common issue seen in many bottles. Clark e-mailed me back and said they are aware of the issue that they are switching their supplier moving forward (this was well before the b6 release).

It's not necessarily happening in all bottles, but if you see some cracking in the wax around your last remaining bottle it is likely b5.

b5 doesn't have a barcode on it new brown label
b6 has a barcode same new brown label
Don't remember either one being stamped though.
b4 was 12 oz with circle red logo and red stripe around the top
b3 was yellow label with a stamp 22 oz
b2 was yellow label unstamped 22 oz
b1 I think was 12 oz again but with the old logo

So can we all admit TG has been a bit boring on the releases lately????

If I dont get a Zeelander 4 pack after they scoop up their 2020 pellets, I might shed a tear or two.

Also was really happy with the new Nugmo, hopefully we see it return or Sol Hunter.... We can only hope tho.

Anyone hear any news of a TG anniversary party this year?

Nope. Saw some one post about it on the twitter but heard no news from TG about it.

Looks like they have opened a couple for onsite consumption in the tap room. No actual release to my knowledge.

Doubt big party happens like last year, but given the lack of turn out probably could make the state maximum allowed.

That was such a weirdly underattended event.

I think it’s true in the beer business. Don’t offer something special for people to take home and sell people won’t come, despite the stellar tap list. But I bet this year more people will show up just hoping for a bottle.

I didn't show up last year because I assumed it would be packed and the KBBS would kick in 15 minutes before I made it through the line. I've gotten burned too many times and would have made the 6-hour round trip for even one guaranteed 5oz pour. I hope someday they'll pre-sell tickets for pours online.

It's a pretty risky proposition for most to drive all that way with no guarantee of anything, and that was pre-COVID.

I didn't go because I was out of the country. But I agree with the rest, it's in the middle of nowhere, people don't want to get there and strike out. Publish the tap list, sell tickets with guaranteed pours, and it will help. There is a chance they didn't want it to be insane, hook up the locals?

Looking for opinions. Assassin 2016-2020. Please rank them in order of your preference as they are drinking today. (I assume all prior releases are really good and impossible to obtain, but feel free to include them if you want.)

I'll have a follow up question after I get a couple opinions. Thanks!

I see 19&20 as one beer and 16&18 as another. I’m sure plenty of people will debate the nuances, but at the end of the day 16&18 had a large dark fruit presence that I didn’t enjoy and 19&20 were more dark chocolate. Once you figure out where you fall based on that, you can’t go wrong with either year.

Lots of differing opinions on this.

Personally I felt 18>19>16. Haven’t had 20 yet, waiting to try it with my brother, traded my 2nd 19 for it. A lot of people felt 18 was the worst. But the 4x I’ve had 18 2 bottles 2x tap at the brewery it was like fudge brownie batter (one poster got angry I said that before, however one of the brewers at TG, not mike agrees with me). 16 was more of a dark fruit note to me and 19 was thick And a mixture of fruit and chocolate. I felt 19 was much better with age. It was good at release day, but at the anniversary party was just behind 18 for me and then when I opened my bottle about 4 months ago was the same as at the anniversary.

You're better than me, recent batch was more than just off for me. Sadly if that was someone's first taste of KS, it wouldn't be worth ever having again.

A forgotten 4 month old King Sue can was better.. color and clarity was very different too.
