This reminds me of a story I heard about someone's kids who snuck away on a brewery tour and removed the plugs from some barrels that were aging...lots of expensive product lost that day.

On draft is fine, but skunkier is better. Green bottles rule!

Salt shakers full of glitter? What could possibly go wrong? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think there's a lot of science and stuff involved in keeping the glitter in suspension so it doesn't congeal on the surface. Or something. I don't know. All I know is, I'm still ISO Sour Me Unicorn Farts.

I would think someone so into semantics would be more cognizant about not making typos.

i don't know about over-rated but it's hard to justify a) flying to Belgium or b) paying one of the services what they charge, when you can get St. Bernardus abt12 anywhere for 11 or 12 bucks per 750

I’m fairly indifferent regarding children in breweries, I can see both sides.

But they should NEVER be allowed on a brewery tour.

This being the controversial thread I should probably express an opinion like " all breweries MUST permit children, and if no kids happen to be there at a given time then the state should supply unsupervised children to ensure an atmosphere of merriment "

From our viewpoint it depends on the brewery.

We have 3 breweries within 3 miles of us.

We will not take our kids to one of them.
It's very small and the taproom shares the same space with the barrel aging and the fermentation tanks. We took our son before he could walk and we always keep an eye on our children. But when he could start walking he started getting interested in the valves on the tank so right away we knew we couldn't take him there until he was much older.

The other two breweries have very large spaces. They have games and root beer on tap at all times. Their equipment is cordoned off or behind gates but we still keep an eye on the kids.
The owner of one of them has grandkids the same age as our kids and they come every so often.

I was once offered a brewery tour. But my kid was restless so there was no way I was going to do it with him.

A brewery in my state makes a beer described as the following:

Our award winning Berliner Weisse, features 300 lbs of Skittles, over 100 boxes of Trix Cereal, 2 lbs per gallon of strawberries and pineapple, vanilla and lactose!

So, uh, Trix and Skittles. As much as it pains me to admit it I would buy a single can just for the novelty if I came across it. I would definitely hesitate to call it beer though.

My god, you really can't satarize craft beer anymore. What fucking award did this win?

I think the thing that drives me the craziest.about these beers is that they just throw in while branded (and low quality at that) foodstuffs. We have some breweries out here that regularly make stouts meant to emulate the flavors of baked.goods by adding ingredients that mirror the baked good. I don't personally enjoy those beers but I can certainly appreciate that it is craft beer and requires skill from recipe construction to ingredient selection to a brew day filled with complicating steps as you deal with each unusual ingredient.

Then these jokers just dump some god damn trix and skittles in their beer and claim an award?!? I always thought the craft beer segment was aspiring to elevate beer above the mindless industrial level it had fallen to. Where's that bursting bubble we've been warned about?
