Hop Butcher (2020)

I also find milkshake IPAs to be very inconsistent, and BO is one of the more consistent ones. Orange in general seems to be a much more consistent flavor in milkshake IPAs. I will say that Hop Butcher has done a great job with Old School Hawaii Vibes though.

It actually appeals to me. I love Simcoe. Never had the original though.

Edit: Apparently sold out already. Also, I really wanted that Kolsch glass, but I held strong. I desperately do not need more glassware.

 

I somehow also feel good about passing on the same glassware that I have in black.

 

Torchberry is pretty bitter and a little tart, which surprised me for a milkshake. Assuming it's the blood orange. It pretty well overpowers the mango and raspberry, and I was looking forward to a little more raspberry in this. It was fine. Glad my other can is going to my buddy.

Self-disclosure: I generally dislike this style and find most are an abomination to me. YMMV.

Compared to every other milkshake IPA I've ever had.

At 4pm Beer Temple had several mixed 4 pack crowlers from Hop Butcher.

Emits Showers of Sparks, Rip Rap, Circumpolar Cherry Cyclone and the hyper-scarce Deep Rinse, which I missed in distro.

Best part is they are 16oz crowler fills! Wish more people offered that.

 

Does anyone know if they release falling coconuts periodically or if that was a one off? Had it a few yrs ago at beer camp across america beerfest in navy pier and it was great.

 

I first had it in 2016 (I think they were still South Loop Brewing at the time), so I'd guess that it'll come around again.
