Starter boxes to both targets might land tomorrow, so let’s narrow it down a bit.

    Target #1:
Hint #1: I have never sent you beer.
Hint #2: You have never sent me beer before.
Hint #3: Your preferences are different than most.
Hint #4: Your username and mine do not share any characters.

Hint #5: The box only contains one IPA because your specific requests mentioned not needing any.

    Target #2:
    Hint #1: Fuck your porch
Hint #2: You have sent beer to over half the people in this BIF. However, @CanConPhillyhas sent to more people in this BIF than you.
Hint #3: Samples of bourbon? Your preferences say yes!
Hint #4: Small teaser box leaving today with some cans, it won’t be traveling over more than 5 states.

Hint #5: You recently landed the most boxes in one day I have ever seen.

I’m not wasting any time, people. This box of great beers won’t unlock itself. Let’s dig in @NorthStateCustomCraft!

Look: Pours dark brown and thick from the can. Black and opaque in the glass with a light brown colored head that disappears. No lacing but it’s got legs and looks sweet and big.

Smell: Smells like a stout with some added ingredients. Chocolate and vanilla forward. Sweet. At first this beer doesn’t seem big to me, but shortly after opening it’s clear the ABV is high. Seems nutty. Hazelnut maybe. Possibly coconut, but not sure. I don’t think there’s any barrel.

Taste: Ok, upon first taste, this beer seems like its pretty big ABV wise. I’m guessing low to mid teens. It’s drinkable though. It’s not hot but it’s big. I get a lot of the same flavors as the nose, including chocolate and vanilla. I don’t think there’s any barrel. Still on the fence with coconut. It’s not a crazy sweet beer. The ABV cuts through as does some dryness, cocoa powder / dark chocolate bitterness and even toast on the finish. A pretty big malt profile.

Feel: The feel is medium to low carbonation, and pretty thick. A lot of warmth in the pipes from the alcohol.

Overall: I’m going with an Imperial Stout (low to mid teens ABV) probably with chocolate / cocoa and lactose, definitely vanilla. If you’ve had any of the WeldWerks dessert stouts this reminds me a lot of that type of beer.

Depending on the other blind beer I may or may not be excited about blending the two...haha!

I’m going to open that one now and I’ll post the two reveals together.

    Blind Beer #B

Look: This one is translucent, pale gold and pretty hazy. Big, frothy, white head with streaks of lacing. No visible carbonation. It looks like an attractive NEIPA.

Smell: Crack the can and this beer screams pina colada. Coconut and pineapple sweetness with some brighter, lighter and more acidic notes of berry, peach and orange. This is like a melange of fruit. Juicy fruit bubble gum. So much damn fruit. Awesome nose. This might not be terrible blended with that stout!

Taste: Follows suit very closely. Possibly a milkshake IPA, definitely with coconut. Also got a bit of the bubble gum fruitiness on the flavor too. The hops come through a lot. There’s some dryness and bitterness on the finish. Seems like a mix of some new school tropical fruity/grassy hops and something old school like Simcoe. Nice balance, not too sweet at all, despite initial impressions. But if you don’t like coconut additions to your IPA, you won’t like this beer.

Feel: Low to medium carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

Overall: Definitely an IPA with coconut. I’m thinking this one is also high ABV (over 8.5%) but I’m pretty buzzed from the stout so I’m not entirely sure. Is it me or is it getting hot in here? This is right up my alley. Big on coconut without being artificial, and the hops really jump out too.

After the big stout I was concerned about blending it with another beer. Fortunately, Bill paired up two beers that work really well together. Thanks, Bill, for the fun blind beers!

Mikkeller SD Beer Geek Vanilla Shake. The coffee did not cross my mind. But it’s definitely there. Slice Beer Co Double Hand Candy. This Milkshake IPA from Slice is definitely one of the best, if not the best Milkshake I’ve had. I was off on the hops though. I thought there was something old school here that brought some bite to the beer. The combo of Citra and Sabro here is just off the charts.
