What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2807

-starting a 60 day work break between jobs today. This is a thin milk stout , Sinner’s Mass from the 1940’s Brew Co Cheers!

 

Still sorting through my new Steam sale games and installing stuff. It's quite overwhelming, and a bit like Christmas.

Anderson Valley Cherry Gose. Excellent as usual. Nice head retention/spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with some wheat, cracker, white bread malts; light pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt, lactic acid, fruit tang, and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness, no pucker. Very flavorful/refreshing 4.2%. Not overly lactic or salty. Awesome balanced juicy/jammy cherries, Lacto complexity; and solid pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Very impressive all around. All of the variants are pretty close in rating. Need to keep the series in the rotation more often.

Do you have any experience with Mortalis stouts? I have a friend going up there today for the Hydra can release and I'm debating if I want to have him pick up one those bottles of Mexican Cookie for me or maybe a crowler depending what they release this afternoon. I don't know if they do stouts as well as they do sours but I figure you may know

I mean, it's the weekend, so taking down another Half Acre.

This one, friends, is a 2012 HA Quakerbridge Barleywine, gifted to me by one of the co-owners of HA, Maurizio. Gave it to me as we left Chicago in late 2013 as a parting gift. I'm beyond grateful. I'm also grateful it SURVIVED these 6+ years of storage in my basement.
Chilled - opened - let it warm, and it's great. Mahogany honey and molasses for miles, fantastic vinous character and a lovely warming note on the end. Some old fig as well.

May this day treat you as well as this has treated me. Shared this with my partner in crime, and the colleague who was teaching with me in Chicago in 2013. It's been a great morning so far.

Sadly, I turn to work now, for the rest of the day. But will check in later. Be well...

 

Anything mortalis is gold. I've never had a bad beer from them and constantly seek them out cheers

 

You're going to love it. Timber is my favorite new brewery this year. Nothing but solid to great beers from them cheers
