Check out Bitterbill's webpage of retailers who ship beer - he lists which states most won't ship to, as well.

NJ's law used to prohibit all alcohol shipped from out of state but a new law was passed to allow wine - but the way I've read the law, beer shipments would still not be allowed. (Funny, because NJ craft brewers lobbied for a new law that benefited them in a number of ways - I wonder if they were against adding beer to this new Wine law.)

See NJ ABC FAQ http://www.nj.gov/oag/abc/faqs.html#8 which now says "update pending". Previously, it read:

Back in the day I had belonged to Beer Across American(until the beers they were sending became questionable), those were sent UPS and for Christmas one year my wife signed me up for Michael Jackson's Belgian beer club.
So can't say how those made it threw?

I was also given a gift of a Beer of the Month Club and also belonged to MJ's club at one point - both were over a decade ago now, so I can't recall the particulars, but as I remember it, those sorts of clubs usually have an in-state, licensed partner/retailer.

Many of the internet retailers (like those in Bitterbill's page) will claim that the actual "sale" takes place in their state -via your credit card account- and they are merely acting as your agent to ship you your own beer. Some retailers get away with that until, apparently, they get caught somehow or 'nother, and then cross New Jersey off their list. Which is why the big internet beer retailers' lists of "States we don't ship to" are constantly in flux.

I only mention the technical illegality of it not to dissuade anyone, only to explain the phenomenon of why some retailers will, and other will not, ship to particular states. I mean, apparently, it is also illegal to drive over 65 mph on the NJ Tpk - which means my speedometer must be way off...

beerjobber might. I plugged in a north Jersey zip code and it came back ok to ship. I just ordered a couple bottles from them. See how it goes. I am in Philly though. My normal Ohio connection could not get any of the Rivertown sours so I broke down and ordered them online.

    Enjoy
