And considering GI doubles, triples and quadruples price of vintage BCBS variants, this is a steal...

Are there really that many "duds" in the variant list? Seems like some awesome ones, a lot of very solid ones, and a couple of "duds." At least going on BA scores.

After DLD, there is usually between 50 and 80 Dark Lords listed on Craigslist. By way of comparison, there are 22 right now. It will be interesting to see how many are list in Mid-July.

Really depends on how you feel about the wine barrel ones. There are quite a few and many people think they're WAY too sweet. I've found most of them decent enough for 6 ounces or so, but much more than that is tough and requires an insulin shot.

I'm mostly hoping to dodge Turtledogg and the 2 older wine barrel ones. Can't imagine those held up well.

I'm looking forward to seeing what I get. I've never had Dark Lord before and this seems like a great way to support the brewery now.

I was thinking the fest price was $150, and with one less bottle in the $150 package (3 bottles, 1 variant), that's just straight up gouging.

But I forgot the fest was $180. Still, subtracting $20-25 for the 1 less bottle of DL is $160-155...a whole $5-10 savings seems like very small dip for not hosting a festival at all.

I agree it's steep but it seems a good way to support a brewery I like when they are surely missing out on a ton of revenue.

It's crazy to me that so many people are looking for proxies and offering to proxy when they're not allowed. It's not unreasonable to assume they won't enforce it (like so many other releases) but that still seems like a big gamble at $150 or $200. I doubt all these requests I'm seeing are people who are giving money so that the proxy can buy it in their name since plenty of people seem to be planning on proxying for more than 3 people.

Also crazy to me that so many people are willing to have someone else proxy and are OK taking the least desired variant out of the 3-6 the person gets (and I'm someone who likes lower tier variants far more than most people).

I assume it will just take the form of someone buying the limit of 3 and then moving some/all.

I would “proxy” the non-Handjee/Chemtrail 5 packs for anyone!

Yeah, sucks dude, your tote had 5 vintage DL bottles. It's their nod to 2017 I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sure they aren't uploading the new stuff with a plan to turn it back on at 3?

Haha. I'm out. For the record! I know everyone was waiting with bated breath on this news. I wasn't overly impressed with 2019 Handjee and while I'd love to have more of some of the other variants, price is too steep when I've already got a cellar full of DL, on top of having to endure that boring ass drive for one painfully specific reason that doesn't come with an awesome festival, but instead a Russian roulette of bad variants, plus a pandemic ensuring there's not a damn thing else worth doing.

ya agree....although I wish they would have done both this AND the 2020 sale at the same time. I'm not going to make the drive then do it again. I may do it for 2020. Although I was surprised they had so many good variants available. Figured it would be all the crap ones.

How big of a tip are people leaving on each package?

I'm also in this boat. I really don't have an interest in more vintage DL reg when I still have some in the basement...Add to that the 2 hour drive and the lesser variant roulette...well, I'm just going to allow someone else to have all the fun. I'm due for a shit variant anyways. Also, I'm not one that likes to sit on variants for aging fun after having had an infected FVM. Not saying any of these are, but really soured me on waiting to crack em open.

So are we just expecting this to pop up in the to go shop?

Wait, what? That explains the lack of line outside the brewpub...

I'm assuming it won't be at the top of the to go shop; they'll bury it somewhere in the middle among all the other options for maximum difficulty and confusion. Basically it'll be a captcha.
