I purchased a 30 pack of (Genny) Cream Ale this week. It was the first time that I have seen the new design cans and boxes in a 30 pack. I stopped buying it when it went down to 24 and the price didn't go down. Perhaps many others did the same and Genny is responding to the market.

Thats Amazing I didnt know Miller had an Ale. I know Budweiser had one in the 2000s. Has Coors ever had one?

Anheuser-Busch brewed a few other ales before that, too. One that only made it to test market (New England) - the brand name later used for a differnent, better-known product, of course.

The earliest bottlings in the 1980s of their version of George Killian Irish Red (Ale) were top fermented, as is the flagship and some other of the Blue Moon family, of course.

I might as well throw-in the picture I took just before this one. It depicts another old AAL.

While I prefer Gansett and Hamm’s I’ll throw another out there for fun...Schmidt. I gotta drive to PA to get it but if I am there I am always happy to grab a 6er.

Back in '92, when Heileman owned both labels - Schmidt "The Brew that Grew with the Great Northwest" (St. Paul) and Schmidt's of Phila - they "merged" the brands, obviously to save money on packaging, etc. By that time, they brewed the former in La Crosse and the latter in Baltimore.

Funny thing is, they didn't change the recipes of the beers so the "Schmidt" beer sold in the Northeast was different from one sold in Minnesota (where it was still Heileman's best seller) and the surrounding region. Which sure implies that the packaging cost them more than the ingredients, as often stated.

Of course, the current owner, Pabst, sometimes gets confused (screen shot from a few years back):

You and I are kindred spirits here; I discussed Lord Chesterfield in post #10.

    Cheers!
