While this is more than what 750s were costing years back, last release was around $20 per bottle. IMO at 500ML $16 per bottle is far below what most places are charging for the same type of beer, and this is better quality IMO. We have some places charging $20 or more at times for 500MLs of similar product and Kane was selling Boardwalk twist for $12 in Nov I think. Price wise I still think Kane is better than some competition. The eventbrite method adds fees and that sucks, but there's really no good way to do this especially during these weird COVID times. I also do like the set is 1 of each so you are locked into getting multiples if you do not want them.

I said to friends yesterday I guess the 750 is dead. Maybe ANTEAD & anniversary beers will still remain in that format, but it just seems like a format, especially for these higher ABV darker beers, is long gone.

I was wondering about this... Not Kane specific but is there a brewery that started large stouts in 550ml trend??

Do you mean 500ml? I'm not aware of many breweries doing 550s... as far as small format goes, the biggest popular-izers of it would certainly have to be Goose Island, and then probably Dogfish Head, Voodoo, TG... Bottle Logic if you want to get more recent. There's plenty of big players that have been doing it for a while.

I guess part of my issue is the 500 mL bottles that are high ABV with some adjuncts but aren’t bourbon barrel aged (or similar) and are still $15 -$20 each. That’s like a $60-$80 four pack when most TIPAs at 10-12% ABV are around $22-24 for a whole four pack. Again, I still spring for a bottle or so every now and then but pricing is a little crazy when you look at it like that.

This one is right on the edge of "worth it" for me. The generous pickup window and my current WFH situation is a plus, I haven't had Kane (or bought much in terms of bottles) in a while so I'll probably end up splurging on something I wouldn't. That total after the fees could be a bit jarring and make me want to reconsider, though.

that’s when I gave up on beers like this. 60$ four pack of beer just isn’t worth it to me. I’m sure it’s a fair price but I just can’t bring myself to buy them anymore. The other thing I started asking myself was how many of my favorite beers I could buy instead of getting a single bottle or set like this. I love mexican brunch, the pepper is always so perfect with the choclate, I’ll survive though I think...haha

I'm with @DrStiffington and @William_Navidson and @jonphisher on this. We moved to PA so I haven;t been to Kane in quite some time. I find it a shame they've largely transitioned to the 500ml format and not really adjusted their prices as the costs aren't much different than their old prices for 750s. For me based off the pricing most of their stouts are hard to justify the cost for not being BA despite how good most of them are. I get they aren't as bad as others like OH on the stout pricing, but it's hard for me to justify paying these amounts for small bottles and non BA stuff when you could get a lot of good quality beer for $40 or $80 depending on how many sets you get.

I'd be in if i could just get 2 of the coconut version tho, I always find their beers with coconut to be very good, though I know its a divise ingredient. They will probably have leftover too so maybe they will sell them individually later.

Yeah I am going to shoot for a set, my only worry is the new one is overly sweet which I am really not a fan of.

Edit: Got a set, weird it set you into a line first then into the page, I got a set my buddy didnt and we were on the same time. Glass was sold out already which seemed even odder.

I honestly thought it would last for a long time like even past the on sale. That’s crazy, didn’t get much talk on here at all. Then again we’re a small population of people on BA. I wonder if the long window drew more people and travelers too. There is still no rhyme or reason guessing on these things, that’s the weirdest part to me.

Yeah i would assume the longer pick up time helped more people who normally wouldnt get it decide they could. I was planning on going tomorrow anyway, hopefully its not bonkers or ill just go back another day during the week

That happens every release. Says unavailable, but not sold out and people think it's sold out.

True, but I’ve gone through that in past releases where it says that less than 5 minutes in and after trying and trying never get it so for all intents and purposes it’s sold out. Not a tragedy by any means (and I sat out this one due to price) but I still find the super fast sell outs (Kane, Troon, Source) interesting.

I was on the app and it never gave me notice to tickets, very odd. The girl got me a set but eventbrite was very wonky..

id love to see how much they made

Or maybe they meant the tekus? Nonetheless good for them. Sweet stouts are increasingly less my thing, but wherever keeps the core lineup flowing.

I think the sell out speed of a Source is more in line with "interesting" considering I feel their beer is avg at best and priced a bit higher than it should be, and I know I am not alone in that. I feel like their case counts on these releases have to be very minimal. Kane is the least interesting IMO, they are well established and have been making top tier NJ beer for a long while and this release (and most of the insta sell outs) are ones that are sought after. Troon is in the middle, they do make great stuff and have been around a bit, but they produce a smaller amount than a Kane and have a cult like following as well.

Anyone try Waimea Pro? I try not to let untappd sway me too much but there’s an unusually high amount of ratings in the 3s for a new Kane beer.

Was actually one of their newer beers that I’ve enjoyed the most recently. But what do I know... just personal preference I guess.

just cracked a bottle of this years Mexican Brunch. Good as ever. Excited to try Mexican Desert as Kane tends to knock the adjuncts in that one out of the park.
