I got mine at DLD 2019. Stored with all my other cellar beer, which stays about 63ish degrees year round and no light. Opened in March. Basically tasted like neopolitan ice cream. Strawberry was pretty prevalent. Coconut was mostly faded. I say fridge to maintain any chance of strong coconut. Just one man's opinion.

Even if there's truth to the fact that it was intentional and they are laughing about it, is anyone who follows FFF with any degree of regularity surprised by that? I'm definitely not. We all joked about it for weeks because there was a certain degree of likelihood of it happening. This is one of the reasons I chose to not to toss my hag in this ring.

EDIT: I meant hat, but am leaving it as posted because that mental picture is hilarious.

Well my excitement and lack of patience got the best of me and I opened one of the 2017 regulars I got today. It's been about six years since I last had a full pour of DL.

I forgot what an excellent beer it is. I'm guessing age helped this one cause it was still pretty sweet, but waves of chocolate, molasses and some vanilla. Absolutely delicious.

I was on the fence about going in on this but I'm glad I did.

totally agree. I blame myself for it too. Live and learn. If this is what dld 2021 is, I’ll be passing

Guess you'll be passing on 2020 DL, too. The vintage sale was just a warm-up for this year's release.

And with Covid think of all the issues with sourcing adjuncts they had. Forced to use what they had in the pub freezer. That 2020 DL Burnt Pork Ends variant will be best one as long as it isn't infected with botulism.

I'm picking up Friday and if it's an unhappy pull I assume it will be bottles we haven't really been hearing about people getting yet. i.e., I see a lot of "bro..." in my future. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate them and actually quite liked one of them (too lazy to look up) but still not what I'm hoping for (non-adjuncted Bourbon/Rye aged, CTM, Lounge, HJ, Muerte, in that order). Seems like they've already burned through most of the bottles I was hoping to get.

Anything would be better than all GTM....I'm sorry for your loss.

Did they ever say what happened with what would have been the 2020 vintages? They had to have had them in barrels. I assumed we would see 2020 BAs with this vintage release but seems like they scrapped any BA 2020 release altogether eh?

They haven't started and said they would make them.

I think they will release them along with 2020 Dark Lord later this fall. I think this vintage sale was sort of a test run to see how it would go.

Presumably they already had beer in barrels from last year anticipated to be variants for DLD 2020. I think it is regular 2020 Dark Lord they haven't brewed yet.

Maybe 2021 will see an all BADL transition, a la Darkness. #Unlikely #ButThatWouldBeAYearToRemember

You think they're actually gonna pass up making all of us suckers by 4 regular dark lords a year? Dare to dream I guess...

At least reg DL still has its mystic with casual craft beer fans. I pretty easily got rid of three I just got (at cost) to a friend in Boston who’s never had it, and a couple of friends that have only been into craft beer for like a year or two

Dark Lord, just like BCBS beer, line standing at butt crack of dawn, getting hosed on trades, growing a fat neckbeard and belly, complaining about pricing and release methods, etc... are all rights of passage into craft beer.

I'm still waiting for someone to bitch and complain that they passed out at the this year's pick up only to find their car and bottle allocations stolen.

Yes, who got too drunk at the bottle pick up and smashed one or more of their bottles? I didn’t see anyone lapping up a FVM off the ground as I have in years past.
