My pickup is Thursday this week. How bad is construction on Calumet Ave?

OK cool. From the email they sent it sounded bad. Just wanted to check.

it's been 25 years since i took a finite match course...but i did some quick calculations . I assumed vintages were 2010 through 2019 and that the 3 vintage bottles could be from any of those years but also could all be the same year. I also assumed i was possible to get the same variants in your pack (i.e. 2 x handjee). You get 561,000 different combinations of five packs. if it were truly random, you have a 0.00018% of getting any one five pack.

If you look at maybe a more likely scenario (but that has not necessarily been true) that all three vintage bottles come from the same year, there is still the possibility of 67,320 combinations of five packs or a probability of 0.0015% of receiving a particular five pack.

dang it, screwed up the math. if you get the same year vintage, the probability of each five pack is 0.18% which probably makes more sense. still not sure that is exactly right tho

I think the logistics alone make it impossible for them to make it TRULY random or even somewhat random for people buying multiple allotments. You didn't pick your variants in your single allocation. They provided you with a "random" variant in your single purchase. You didn't choose it so its random to you, but not random to them.

They didn't design the process for hoarders like us....

Dark Lord ages as well as any stout I've ever seen, so you could drink one bottle a year to see how it develops. I think that's the idea.
    That's..... not what "random" means.

I’m not hoarding. They made the limit 3 bags. If they made the limit 3 bags, then they knew there would be tons of people with 3 bags.

I still think fff should have done price packages on individual variants. It would eliminate the secondary market and the inevitable feelings of “I got screwed”.

Start with Handjee and Chemtrail plus three variants for $250 and work our way down to GTM and three variants for ... $10?

I assume that's with tip included for that allotment?

    ...
... I kid I kid. I'll get my double Turtledogg/GTM bag soon enough.

Pretty sure that their idea was to empty the cellar since the brewpub is closed indefinitely (or until it burns down). Had to hang the possibility of a Handjee out to get rid of the GTM.

I just created the concept, not the pricing. In fairness though, I would pay $10 to try a GTM (for science).

Just wanted to take a break from your regularly scheduled programming to bring this back the (xRBA xDVR) inquiry I had earlier for a quick minute.

I opened mine over the weekend and actually thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm really glad I did it in a more intimate setting--not being able to share it at DLD this year was a blessing in that way, especially since I'm still not seeing these bottles show up very often elsewhere (much like the elusive ReptileFund, god dammit!).

Anyway, the appearance was beautiful but no one cares about that. The nose lead with mild notes of hickory accented by cacao nibs and roasted walnut, but the taste just floored me. It had a substantial heat I've not encountered in many DL variants, and being so viscously thick and sweet, whereas too much heat often turns me off, it really worked as a contrast here. The barrel had black pepper notes which perked up the thickly sweet dark chocolate, even giving way to pecans, which I'm not sure I've ever got out of a DL variant before.

I didn't know what to think when I got that in my bag last year, but I was very happy with it in the end.

In all seriousness, I think they would all sell. Some would sell more slowly that others. There are a lot of people that would just like to try a variant (even a bad one).

Careful man, the week before I went I joked I would get 3 GTM on a Facebook post and it happened.

Can I ask.....after your 285th post (on BA not all social media) about why 3 Floyds fucked you? Why do YOU think they targeted you?
You have over & over & over & over & over again mentioned that all of the workers talked & moved bottles around & specifically targeted just you to fuck over with bottles of GTM; why you?
You clearly believe the all of Floyds know you & apparently hate you because they went WAY out of their way to fuck over Brett Burns so what is it that I am missing?
Personally I think you give this clown car of a brewery WAY too much credit & just crapped out on luck but clearly you believe there is some master plan to specifically fuck over Brett Burns more than anyone else so please enlighten us so that we can make sense of ALLLLLLLLL of your posts.

Tried to editthe original post but missed my 15 minutes.
***Edit*** Clearly 285 is an exaggeration so for those worried about factual numbers it is 37 DLD posts not 285

I would just like to add that a notorious beer reseller who constantly snatches up good trade deals and limited releases and then resells at the high end or inflated secondary prices, and who also runs multiple sock accounts ended up getting 2 GTMs as well and it was a beautiful thing to see.

While it would be fun to think 3 Floyds targeted him specifically, it was likely just a classic case of beer karma.
