Hop Butcher (2020)

Two Flat is one of my least favorite HB beers that isn't a milkshake (granted, I’m typically not a fan of hybrid pale/IPAs). So I only picked up a pack of BOM (which ironically is one of the only milkshakes I enjoy). I’m enjoying it . Hops are coming through a bit more than I recall from the last batch or two out of the gate. And I like it.

 

Interesting, what don't you like?

 

I just prefer a crisp, clean pale or a full haze over the soft bodied hybrid. I know I’m in the minority, but it’s just my preference. Granted, I only had Two Flat once (last batch), so I’d try it again. But I struggled to finish the 4 pack.

 

Got it. I can respect that. This batch wasn't perfectly clear but not what I'd call hazy. More translucent. It did definitely have some nice piney/bitter notes.

Sounds interesting, but not sure I can commit to a 4 pack of maple and lactose. Unfortunately I don’t have anywhere close that does singles.

 

I officially have "too much beer" after trips to 3 Floyds, Binny's, and More in the last 2 weeks (and a trip to Mikerphone scheduled tomorrow). HB picked a great week to put out a maple stout and my favorite of all their IPAs. My fridge is full!

 

First week since mid March that I haven't bought beer. Feels pretty good.

 

if you’re near wicker park, I can give you a can / hide one somewhere and give you clues where to find it.

cracked one tonight - big salted caramel chocolate vibe. very rich. Enjoyed it - would’ve preferred an 8oz can. Made me crave a crisp, clean beer afterwards, so I stared at a fader and then drank an OH broccoli instead.

2020- The year of the one man beer fest....

 

I got through about 4 oz and nearly went into diabetic shock. Glad I only got one.

 

No rocket launcher? He always has that thing strapped to his back. Sigh.

As fun as this scavenger hunt sounds, I’m in the far west suburbs and will have to pass.

 

Soar intrigues me, but I’m guessing it’ll be like most HB lagers and be super limited.

 

If it's like other HB lagers it'll also not be good. Can't say I've ever had a good lager from them.

Also can't say I've had a good stout from them? Actually they have been good but not great. They have just been super underwhelming compared to the hype they get for me.
