yeah I’m actually debating making the drive up there tomorrow. I have a weird feeling this might not make it til Thursday because people really love beer in summer heat waves

I would if I had time, I’ll have to test fate on this one. I can’t bring myself to drive far for beer any more, in total back and forth it’s like 2 hours 15 minutes for me. My time to beer acquisition ratio (that’s a thing right???) has tipped towards time now. Especially when there is that small chance I can get it delivered. I envy your dedication @tzieser enjoy it for me!!

Well I have a lot of family in Ocean County so I usually do other stuff too aside from just grabbing beer lol. 1hr 10mins or so is my max trip time for beer. Can’t justify anything further than that (which works out good for me because Tree House is that distance from where I stay in MA and also Kane is about that far). It’s definitely worth waiting for the delivery though; I’ll probably end up waiting as well if I don’t have anything else going on up that way.

it won't make it till Thursday i'd imagine...wouldn't have scooped sans needing to get mexi bottles so was there and can't pass ripple up

can say it's not the same ripple you remember.. while it is good you will notice the motueka.. not in a bad way but it's present.. personally i'd prefer it wasn't there but for a session it's quite tasty.. really wish i had been able to try that double ripple they did a month or so back

not a huge fan on kanes use of motueka/Waimea/deanli/sabro or some of the othre aussie/nz hops lately.. even galaxy has been hit or miss.. not sure what it is but for the past year or two i've not been keen on them would rather have centennial/chinook/mosaic/citra/simcoe etc imo

I read on IG that the original Ripple used to be Nelson-only. I wonder why they’d fuck with a good thing

Hop contracts? Inability to get a quality supply? Concern that Nelson doesn't fit the flavor profile people nowadays push for, at least alone? Just some guesses. The owner of Heretic actually in the AMA forum mentioned all these things and I've heard these things before at smaller breweries that often adjust ratios year to year at the minimum, if not actual hop varieties in certain beers. Heck I think the macros supposedly have done that for years to get the exact same flavor despite harvest changes. But in any case that sounds at least like an interesting beer that I wouldn't mind trying (session all-nelson IPA).

Oh man. I missed out on a Kane brew with all Nelson?! Shit....

My favorite hop by a country mile.

And if a brew uses a different hop bill than an existing brew, then it should go by a different name, no?

Yes, it’s an old beer well I guess now it’s and old/update beer I guess. Ripple was the first hoppy beer to go (bottle/can) other than head high I believe. You’d have to go back on IG but the original bottle had a label that looked like a Pokémon ball, no other way to describe it.

as per other comments I agree on changing a beer but calling it the same thing. I feel like kane has done this more than once. Recently was it swim fin? Open waters, completely different beer same name. I’m sure there has been others, anyone know any?

with those examples they at least made a point to say that it was a new version of what they had done prior. It seems the Double Ripple they did had Motueka in it, I assume they liked the result and the beer is essentially Ripple at the end of the day so why make it complicated?

I am a bit underwhelmed by Ripple. Never had it before. It’s good but not really anything special. Rated it 3.75/5. I bet it’s a good beach or outdoor beer.

I enjoyed ripple as much as I always have. Adding “a touch of motueka” or whatever they said to me didn’t change this beer that much at all. It’s still basically all Nelson, considering the ratio, if they were truthful in the post. That’s also how it tastes to me. It’s exactly what I want light, drinkable, balanced hops without being overdone, no complaints here. Any hoppy beer like that is about the perfect hoppy beer if you ask me. Just one guy’s opinion, no rights or wrongs here.

I think I have a SNL left still. I may try for it, just because the Almond dream sounds up my alley and you aren't forced into more than 1 each.

i don't love the 2 bottle set, but i'll get it. i liked the peanut butter one a lot more than the smores last time, so naturally it's the smores. the almond sounds good though

Depending how close you are you could wait and see if there are any available for single bottle purchases after, I know Mexican brunch was but the Mexican Dessert wasn't.

Since this thread got bumped, made my 2nd ever trip out to the brewery last Sunday and everything, every stinkin beer I got, is fantastic. SBX is one of the best DIPAs I’ve had all year. Sneak Box is as great as I remember, maybe even better. Party Wave is fantastic. And while I like the Italian pilsner a lot, the straight-up pilsner (Side Shore?) is fucking fantastic. Kicking myself for only getting a 4-pack of that and I gave one away.
