Not that I'm an expert, but it's always something I note in my review (the few times I've had this happen). I'll usually make a sarcastic comment about the lack of haze, given that the brewery went out of there way to mention it on their label (if that's what they did). I'm not sure if I would ding its score for not having a sufficient amount of haze (only because I have no idea what qualifies as sufficient amount of "haze" for the style).

To be fair, if a hefeweizen was crystal.clear I would ding it on appearance. And I think the same applies to "hazy" ipas. This is all assuming you are trying to rate "with style in mind"

I'm not sure that this is the best place to put this but....to my knowledge WA state has one black-owned brewery: Metier Brewing in Woodinville. If you've never heard of them or tried their stuff, I encourage you to do so. They are operating with to-go options (crowlers, growlers, limited bottles + cans) and have some delivery options for select areas. All of that can be found here.

Yea, I less than a mile from Metier. Before all this craziness hit our country, I felt Metier was on the cusp of big things in the PNW beer scene.

Not to be political or anything since this is a beer site afterall, but a big shout out is in order for Norms Market in Lake Stevens for holding the line against assault rifle wielding knuckle-draggers. Kids are staging a protest of sorts today - more like a graduation celebration, and adding gun nuts to the mix is only asking for trouble. There are enough village idiots in Snohomish.
When I venture out in public again I will surely send them some love.

This is good to know. It seems like there have been so many new beer related additions to the area over the past year, I can't keep up with them all any more. So will definitely stop by for a visit the next time the wife and I are up that way (my wife's mom and older sister both live in Snohomish, and until the pandemic, we generally were up that way every other month).

Were they the ones that replaced B-Side, the place that was both a brewery and winery? I knew they were in Woodinville and have been meaning to swing by, back when life was normal.

I'm in the delivery area and my once massive backlog of beer has been shrinking rapidly. Anything you recommend?

To be honest, I'm only trying them now for the first time but had recommended them on the basis of their minority-owned status. Tomorrow, I'm picking up some of the coconut porter, NZ IPA, and scotch ale. I'll report back. Perhaps JasonJYoung can say more. I'm glad to hear he's a fan!

Having a few days off, so took a bit of a walkabout this morning, and strolled past the new Otherlands (formerly known as Other Wonders) brewery, and they have posted on their windows that they'll be opening June 25th. They're on Humboldt St., between, Virginia and Kentucky, just a block down from Twin Sisters, and 3-4 blocks from Kulshan's K1 spot.

Just saw this FB post from Fremont:

Today June 16th, one of our Urban Beer Garden employees tested positive COVID-19. This employee is asymptomatic (e.g., has no symptoms), immediately notified us, and has placed themselves in self-quarantine. We know our employee’s last shift at the Urban Beer Garden was on Tuesday, June 9th and our employee showed no COVID-19 symptoms, had an acceptable temperature when they reported for their shift and wore PPE including a mask and gloves; and used social distancing and sanitation best practices while working their shift.
While it is impossible to know when our employee contracted COVID-19, out of an abundance of caution for our community and employees, we are taking immediate action and closing both the Urban Beer Garden and our production facility to allow for immediate testing of all Fremont Brewing employees and for a full sanitation of all Fremont Brewing facilities.
We are actively seeking medical counsel to make sure we’re taking the strongest measures possible to ensure the safety of our customers and employees. We’ll re-open when it is deemed completely safe and prudent to do so. Please check our website and stay-tuned to social media for updates and news regarding re-opening. We appreciate your patience. Please direct any questions to [email protected]

Likely caused by the clusterfuck of people not wearing masks nor social distancing while waiting to get in the other weekend.

We didn’t deserve a special phase just for us in King County.

    And, now this from FB:

    The prophecy is fulfilled!
After three-ish years of dreaming, planning, scheming, building, and rolling with the once in a century punches, we're ecstatic to announce that Otherlands Beer is opening Thursday June 25th at 4:00pm! Woo-hoo!
While our opening is not going to be the "3-day Oktoberfest-tent meets Polish wedding style bender" we had initially envisioned we hope you'll join us for our socially distanced only-slightly-subdued-excitement-esque opening weekend.
The inaugural gravity keg of lager will be tapped as we open with beers flowing ever after. Opening draft list will be posted soon.
Thank you all so much for you support, love, and patience. We can hardly wait to share this weird little place we've built with you.

Ben is one of the most talented brewers I know. He makes amazing beer. If you're in the area, you should go.

Had a growler of Illumination tonight and it was solid. Reminded me a lot of Saison DuPont.

I guess this is kinda Oregon beer news too, but Teku Tavern in the Seattle area put their entire bottle list on the Digital Pour app and apparently they have no less than 6 different beers from the long-gone Commons. Might be worth checking out for folks in the area.

Useless for me here in Spokane, and I never had any beers from them, but I know a LOT of people who regularly go to Portland that are still upset about them closing.

I guess that’s one less Washington brewery I’ll be supporting, not that they’ll miss me (I’d never heard of them before reading this). Good to know we have so many others to choose from.
