but pliny for president isn’t an example of a beer that people would deeply care about secondary on... What is it? 15 a can max? You are too caught up in the term secondary and looking at it as the most negative thing in the world. When someone sends me a really nice beer the first thing I figure out is what is secondary so I can return them an equal or better beer.

To your last point... yes you don’t do that because it doesn’t make sense because secondary directly correlates with quality/rarity of beer. If you ever think “ I won’t do that because this beer is too rare or too delicious” that means you just used secondary value. There is nothing wrong with that.

No matter how many people smack you across the face with a point, this is what you keep missing. You say I am focusing on secondary market, yet you need to go back and read the above statement. Not everybody is interested in the secondary market. You clearly are. Carry-on.

Lmao so you would send someone a BBT for nothing? If you are blind to the secondary market then you are also blind to the quality/rarity of that bottle. If you tell yourself that “this bottle is super hard to get and everyone wants it”, then guess what, you just evaluated a high secondary market on it. No matter how many times I explain to you that secondary is a reflection of quality and rarity you won’t understand that because you are some anti secondary warrior who clearly bases a large portion of their identity being “secondary blind”.

but hey, as long as you’re up for sending great beers with nothing in return because to you, everything is cost and nothing more, hit me up!

Keep trying. I never said I would give away a BBT. But then again, I might give one to a friend as an extra if I had one.

You are allowed to base your trades on secondary market. Many of us don’t.

I think you're going to the extreme examples to prove your point, which isn't really appropriate in most situations. What I think people are saying is they don't care about secondary pricing of boxes and contents coming to them when trading with friends, and they don't care about the secondary pricing of boxes and contents going out. NOT focusing on secondary doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It just means exactly what I wrote, NOT focusing.

As an example to what you're talking about, a friend of mine (on BA, can confirm story if needed) sent me an Ardea Insignis shortly after the release, unprompted. That was cool, I thought. I'd never ask for it but he felt generous. I sent him a Backyard Rye back unprompted because I knew it was his favorite Bourbon County beer (and he's a big fan of BC). 'Secondary' may have been in my favor but he didn't care. He actually ended up not being that big of a fan of AI anyway. We could've nickled and dimed back and forth to work out all the financials, but that was waaay too much effort because neither of us feels that brings anything extra our enjoyment of beer that we share.

What you just said is exactly how I trade with my trusted trade partners and the point I’m making is that when you saw a great beer come in, you sent an equal or better one out. If you sent the guy a dragons milk off the shelf you’d look like quite the jerk.

which is also an example of why I look into the beers I get from traders because sometimes I’m sent a beer and I’m not positive it’s exactly hard to come by. If someone sent me a 1 per person ba stout that is valued at 150 bucks, and I don’t realize it’s that rare and send back some shelfies I have, I would feel very bad about that.

everyone is getting caught up on the word secondary because a lot of you use it exclusively to mean selling beer it seems. It’s not about Nickel and diming back and forth to get exact trade value rather it’s about making sure you’re sending out the same quality as the other person.

this was just too easy. Couldn’t the beer have been named something else?
