I have an airbnb that was initially booked for May which my host would not let me cancel so I changed the date to August 15 in exchange

    Staying in Gowanus/Park Slope area

primarily was going to hit up some breweries and bring some stuff home

I looked a couple of weeks ago a bit as far as what was open and seemed like most of the better options were closed but had cans to go

If I do end up going my thought is maybe rent bikes so we won't be traveling too far from where we're staying

open to suggestions and insight as to what is open (outdoor seating only) to drink on premises and what is open for beer to go

always open to food suggestions as well

Outdoor Street-seated drinking is on at both Finback Brooklyn and Strong Rope both on Presidents Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue. The 4th Avenue Pub and St. Gambrinus Beer Shop are both walkable from both breweries and both have on street and backyards for seated drinking.

Wild East Brewing is a couple blocks away on Sackett St. with Outdoor Street-seated drinking as well.

Other Half and Threes are only cans to go so far.

These are off the top of my head.

If you are adventurous, then a trip along the 7 line to Bushwick/Ridgewood would get you to Grimm and Bridge and Tunnel and Evil Twin (all 3 have seated drinking) and for food Houdini Pizza Lab right next to Bridge and Tunnel Friday Saturday and Sunday beginning at 5:00PM

Owl farm and BGH (and I’m assuming mission Dolores) have outside seating too. A lot of NYC dining/drinking in this phase is sort of like Paris meets Detroit

And...Three's yard is now open, just got an email. Thanks, Rauchblerfan33, I forgot about Owl Farm and was wondering about Mission Dolores.

I think you mean the L, though the 7 train has plenty of breweries too.

Worth also noting that while Grimm does have outdoor seating, its pretty limited, I want to say they have maybe 5-6 tables. Evil Twin has probably a dozen or so and the last time I was there at basically opening on Saturday it filled up pretty quickly.

Take the G up to Greenpoint and sit on the rooftop at Greenpoint Beer and Ale

You'll be close to Prospect Park also. Hit up either 209 Station or Gold Star for to go beers and drink in the park.

Grabbing a pie at F&F and drinking cans to go from OH on the benches is a solid option.

All that L train stuff isn't close if you're drinking and biking in a relax manner, no reason to leave the canal, tons of beer in the area.

If you are looking for a good show, a few blocks south of Prospect Park, a bunch gigless professional musicians throw a great jazz/funk show at Albemarle & Stratford every Sunday 5pm-7pm. There is lots of shady spots under the trees in the median. They appreciate tips in beer. Wheated a block away makes a pretty good pie if you wanna eat dinner during the show.

stopped at Evil Twin and Grimm and did my pickups at OH and Folksbier before getting to our airbnb

hit the streets on bikes and went to Finback and Three's

was gonna get a sandwich at Gold Star Beer Kounter but they were only filling crowlers/growlers so we headed back to airbnb to order food and have some drinks

post pandemic, I think I would prefer biking to spots rather than relying on public transportation/Uber

Posted this in the general NY visits thread:
I read through this. Has anything changed since mid-August? I am sure I could google to see what the actual restrictions/etc. are, but figured I would take advantage of the BA knowledge base.

Nothing has really changed yet. Places still have outdoor seating and nothing indoors.

Whereabouts in Brooklyn are you moving to? I’m sure we can collectively recommend the better places/ways to get your beer on within the current limitations

We are looking at apartments next week around Prospect Park. Family lives in Red Hook, we want to be walking distance to a hospital in Park Slope for work(Brooklyn Methodist).
