And Rachel straight up said she hates lotteries and this way has always worked before, so looks like we have an answer.

I’m also kind of confused at the whole “CDCs were supposed to be public thing” because the email with the first CDC directly contradicts it. It said future blends may be public, but the first was meant for LC only.

lol sorry i just pulled that straight outta my ass with no support whats so ever lol.

I hate lotteries too, public lotteries with unlimited entries and people having everyone they know enter... but this would entirely different since no one can have more than 1 entry and they have a maximum number of entries, its the fairest way to do it. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if they did make it a lottery, it really does make the most sense, than having everyone scramble for it lol.

hope members arent taking a shower when it drops, time to invest in that waterproof phone case
Well here he said was it was supposed to be released another way, not necessarily public.

I could CdC b2 having been allocated 1pp and then a short notice release. It was 2pp for members & a good amount of leftovers

This is what I see in the email for CdC b1. Doesn't say it was specifically brewed to be LC only. Just that most will be small batches and will end up as LC only.

"For Blend #1, we took 4 small wine barrels that were earmarked for Tête or Oude Fermier and after not selecting them for Tête de Cuvée Vintage 2016, we added Passion Fruit to them and let them referment. We ended up bottling this beer back in May of 2019 and have been letting it rest as we do with Oude Fermier and Tête de Cuvée until it's ready for you. We already have Blend #2 and Blend #3 in bottles, resting and waiting to be released later. I am excited that this beer kicks off this new segment for our Saison production. Most of these are going to be small blends, so most will end up being LC only "

The email yesterday also suggested as much.

"Single Thread is and will be our yearly release exclusively for you, our LC Members. We know that the CdC beers feel like they are LC only beer, but had it not been for the pandemic, CdC would have been released in some other fashion. Single Thread, however, was blended exclusively for you."

So different means to the same end.

I don’t think there could have been a single beer yet that was specifically brewed to be LC only until Single Thread.

Looks like a well executed plan. Terrible that it's had to come to that, but props to Cory for acting on this whole thing so quickly!

Is this really that viable? What’s to keep someone from just peeling a sticker off and reapplying it? Pardon my ignorance if there is some special type of adhesive or something on these that I don’t know about.

Stickers like that are designed not to peel off in one piece.

So, will a price increase come with these new tamper proof stickers?

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the next BBT is $75 given that For Gabe and DB Anabasis have been that. Hard to imagine that not being the new price point on those kind of bottles.

I could see that being the case, and understand the reasoning. Costs are likely going up, demand is also going way up for that specific 'line' and Side Project has never positioned themselves as a bargain brand/brewery. I view Side Project more as a 'boutique'/higher end brewery. I don't expect bargains from SP, personally. I expect good beer though, and they've delivered on that.

And ultimately, if beer wasn't good enough people would not be willing to pay that kind of a price for 'X' bottles from SP. But because they are really good, even with an potential rise to $75, people will fight (figuratively) to give that money to SP as fast as possible to ensure they get a bottle.

Went to Miami in December and made a point of going to 3 Sons Brewing near Ft. Lauderdale. In convo with owner he relayed his excitement at getting the latest BBT & that he had an SP collab aging in the back. So they have a relationship. On topic, in looking at their bottle list they had a 500ml of a BA Stout for $40. $2.36 an oz. I thought they were crazy but it sold out relatively quickly.

$3 an oz is beyond my arbitrary threshold.

It won’t surprise me either, but I think for those two beers you have to take into account the production expense of the double barreling and time in barrels. Last years BBT threads were mostly in barrels for 21 months with no double barreling. For Gabe was 24-28 months, with the exception of MJK being 22 months, but that was double barreled. DB Anabasis was 100% double barreled.

Which is why this is my last year in perennials membership. Their beers don’t hardly justify the $50 price tag. It was fun for a while, but just not worth it anymore.

Entirely valid points. But I also think prices have creeped up during pandemic to cover possible operating loss from foot traffic, which is why all these beers are put in packages. And they are still selling out instantly, so I just don’t think prices are going to come back down.
