I guess it depends on your age.
I'm old enough to remember when holiday sales started about four weeks before the date and Christmas shopping really did begin the day after Thanksgiving.
Of course I also remember when department stores & groceries were open late one day a week (9PM Thursdays) and half days on Sunday. I can also remember what a big deal it was when the first 7-11 store opened and the convenience of using their tube tester and buying replacements when our TV went out.

Saw a Winter Warmer on the shelves today. Shook my head in disgust.

There is so much old beer on my local beer retailers shelves that if I fixated on that aspect this would be me walking up & down every aisle:

The shaking would be a combo: disgust and I am not buying that old stuff.

Non-cheers to so much old beer!

I for one love pumpkin beers and not one bit ashamed... Saucony Creek Maple Mistress and Blue Moon Harvest (gasp, throw tomatoes) are my staples... May give Weyerbacher another shot this year too... Only wish Alewerks, was available up here...

Also, excited for the Founders Octoberfest offering this year... That will be added to my annual rotation of Sly Fox, Sam Adams and Hacker-Pschoor...

I think my favorite of the pumpkins is DFH. I’ve always enjoyed grabbing a four pack each year. It’s got a richness to it that I enjoy and think goes well with the spices, etc.

I might just pass on pumpkin beers altogether this season. Give them a break and then revisit.

I always thought that pumpkin was one of many adjuncts used by early English settlers to extend a brew, and since they become ripe, pumpkin beers would be more of a late fall/early winter thing, which corresponds with Thanksgiving/Christmas.

I miss Sly Fox. The really are a solid, under the radar regional brewery. Their Grisette (if they still make it) would have been a welcome addition to the rotation the past few summer.

It's understandable, there's like 4 different threads that have Oktoberfest related information in them.

    -This thread

    -German/Imported Marzen

-What's your favorite malt forward beer?

-What's the last lager that impressed the hell out of you?

And there's probably a few more I'm missing...

Yes, they still make it (it is on tap and available in cans now).

As you likely already know: "Gold Medal GABF 2017, Silver Medal GABF 2015, Gold Medal GABF 2014, Silver Medal GABF 2013"

    Cheers!

This week TW Norfolk brought out the Pumking and NB Atomic Pumpkin. I remember one year the Atomic Pumpkin got wiped out quick. The Pumking looks like this years... theres a BB date on it which I don't remember ever seeing before on a Pumking (could be wrong).

If I see a pumpkin beer that interests me, I'll partake. Same goes for Ofests.
