Agree. I still haven’t opened my DIPA crowlet. Today’s session. They reminded me of when Beach City Brewing grand opening (BWHB). Flashpoint will get better as he brews more beer. In the meantime I’ll enjoy my Beachwood and RiiP beers.

Enjoying this very bitter old school west coast dipa, Rule’s & Reg’s from Flashpoint. My favorite of the 4.

I hate the food thing namely bc food trucks are notorious mediocre and have high prices. This has got to be a lobbyist thing going on. I see no benefit to anyones health making people purchase food if they want to drink. You have to put your mask done, juggle utensils or worse use your hands.

Yea, this virus is so amazingly smart. It can differentiate establishments that serve food with alcohol or not.

My guess is so the brewery isn't classified as a "bar", which allows them to stay open. Bars are potentially one of the biggest sources of Covid spreading, so that's why they are closed.

Yep, not sure he realizes he’s actually arguing in favor of bars/breweries closing down.

This word "bar" is a real loose definition. Plenty of breweries can't open strictly due to the inability to move outside. That's all that really needs to be done. There's was a good 2 weeks where you could still do everything you're doing now without the food. Food came in, food requirements went out as long as people wore masks and respected distance, now food is back in.

Yeah and cases started to skyrocket, thus the extra restrictions being put back in place.

I put most of the blame on Arizona, Orange County, and Pacific Beach hitting the beaches during the July 4th weekend.

But then I also don't really go to the beach at all, don't really travel outside of my little 10-15mile bubble around my house, and have stopped really giving a shit about the well being of others (outside of me and mine)...so, there's that. =P

Yeah I have a hard time believing this "skyrocketing" case thing. I put more stock into the hospitalization and death rate which hasn't increased. I get it that politicians have to point the finger and yet they don't want to acknowledge protestors or the amount of people congregating on the beach.. yeah it's a shitty situation overall but you've seen it at outdoor breweries that can function, the food requirement serves zero purpose other than somebody in the food industry that's buttered up governor useless to require it.

A week ago CA broke it's record for deaths in a day that was set 3 days before that and then 5 days before that...

I didn't miss your point at all, my comment is based on how ludicrous this whole situation is and making light of it.

Regardless of your personal and ... political... views on COVID it's really simple:
    • When California started the shelter in place / stay at home / quarantine order back in March, the only exceptions for businesses were "essential services"
    • Restaurants (along with other industries like grocery stores, hardware stores, etc) were considered essential, bars were not.
Clearly the purpose was to have people stay at home and only keeping generally life-sustaining services open. If everything was allowed to be open, then there would be nothing different about the quarantine vs. normal life because people would just do what they normally do.

Now you can believe bars and breweries are "essential". That's fine. But just know it's a difference of opinion of where to draw the line.

The places that have food trucks / enacted food sales during this time are just trying to meet the definition of "restaurant". Hence @annakarina is absolutely correct that ultimately any critiques of these attempts is actually advocating that these places should not be allowed to be classified as restaurants because ... they're not.
