He's probably told you but some shit has popped up in 'Cuse in the last 2-3 years.

Now & Later is an awesome bar and bottleshop.
Branching Out is a great bottleshop.

And for breweries they now have Buried Acorn, Talking Cursive and Willow Rock all doing some real nice things.

Yep, I've been to all of those places exept Talking Cursive. He takes care of me! I dig Now & Later a lot. Just as easy to get NYC beers there as it is in Brooklyn.

I've only had a few of her offerings, but they've all been really impressive. Just cracked a can of Queen Citra and it was right up there with ACE.

Nice! Enjoying an Orange Grove from them right now. I think the next thing for them is to vary up their selection. Would like to see a Pilsner, or a Porter, or a Saison, etc, and see what she can do with it. Cheers!

Yeah, I'd love to see different styles from her. NE IPAs bring in the money though. I also picked up the 2 new cans from this week, but haven't had any yet. I also see you on the FB group haha.

Just finished my first 6-pack from Tonewood and thought it was great! Had to give Lawn Boi a try after all of the positive reviews in this thread. A nice, refreshing pilsner after some long days of cleanup after the storm. Will certainly be on the lookout for more of their stuff.

Brewery called Lyonsmith currently in progress in Lyons, NY (north side of Keuka Lake), looks like an entirely new building, but no word on brewer/opening timeframe/focus/etc.

Also something called Lil Cricket Brewing appears on Google Maps now just outside New Paltz, but there is no information literally anywhere. No social media, website, news articles, anything.

Were you able to do a street view of it? I've seen instances where home brewers with a dream have labeled their...home's garage?...as a brewing business.

Good call, hadn't thought to do that. Just looked and it's for sure just a house. Not a Plan Bee/sprawling farm situation, either. Like there's a good amount of land behind and next to the place but it's just a house.

Lyonsmith has been in existence for a while. They were in Penn Yan...guess they are building a new location.

@IGaveYouPower, I'm gonna be in Skaneateles this weekend. Any close-ish, new-ish breweries that'll be open that you recommend? Maybe top 3 or 4? Trip with friends and wives, so no treks to Mortalis in the cards. (Probably could take this to BeerMail if it clogs the thread.)

There's a brewery in Skaneateles itself, I haven't been but the inside looks beautiful and they appear to have a shitton of outside seating.

Shit within an hour in the order I'd go to it with a mixed group:

    1) Fleur De Lis: On the top and west side of Cayuga, the grounds are huge and fucking gorgeous. Definitely do a good job of replicating a sprawling New Orleans garden/park area. The beer was also very solid and they had (last summer at least) a ton of lawn games to keep a group occupied. About 35 mins from Skan.

    2) Buried Acorn: If you like mixed ferm beers these guys knock it out of the park. Just some brilliantly made shit. They have a wide variety of styles, too, and do well with lagers, IPAs and big dark BA stuff too. Nice outdoor area with plenty of space to stretch out. 25 mins.

    3) Aurora Brewing Company: Some of the best IPAs in the Finger Lakes (not far behind OH TBH and I like some of their shit better) and a huge outdoor space. They were redoing the taproom somewhat recently so definitely check to make sure its not just curbside pickup RN. About 35 mins.

    4) Prison City: Would be higher but IDK what their outdoor seating situation is, usually mostly an inside spot. Beer is up there with anyone in NY, though, and they have very good food too. About 15 mins.

    5) Lunkenheimer: These guys focus on traditional German and Euro styles but they medal in competitions like every fucking year so the chops are there. Solid outdoor area IIRC. About 20 minutes.

If you do Prison City, there's Shep's and Next Chapter in quick walking distance but I haven't been to either or heard fuck about them so you're kind of flying blind there.

Ah did not know. Never noticed them at all on Google Maps until this summer.

Thanks! My friends are from E.SYR, so I've been to Buried Acorn (and loved it -- and know my wife would, too), and Prison City and Good Shep. The rest sound spot on, especially Lunkenheimer for me -- I love a good pilsner.

Got a new spot locally on the radar -- Mixed Breed Brewing in Guilderland Center. They're working on a space and licensing now and their Instagram featured a cream ale so I'm already way on board.

Warbler in Delmar and Great Scanadaga in Broadalbin still in progress, the latter seems very close to opening. Like any day now.

Holy hell, there is yet ANOTHER brewery opening in Canandaigua. For those not familiar, it's a small lake city w/ a population of like 10K and already has five breweries (Naked Dove, Square Knot, Young Lion, Peacemaker, Twisted Rail) and three (Other Half FLX , Noble Shepherd and Irish Mafia) like 5-7 miles outside of town.

Well, Frequentum Brewing is slated to open in a few weeks in what was a Byrne Dairy right on South Main just a quick walk from the top of the lake. Brewer is an engineer (which has worked out pretty well at Equilibrium among other spots) and they're gonna have a cream ale on tap.

    Sold as shit.
