I try to visit Vermont every summer/fall and enjoy all the nature, food, and beer it has to offer. This year is obviously very different, but I'm still considering a visit (after quarantining at home and getting a COVID test) sometime in the new few weeks. Before I make any concrete plans though, I'd like to know what well known beer/food places are open for onsite consumption (pursuant to local guidelines). I know that HF is curbside pick-up only, for example, but what about others like Foam, Blackback Pub, Reservoir, Lawson's, Lost Nation, etc? Can I make 4-5 days of it somehow?

To be blunt you can not take a plane to Vermont for 4-5 days . I appreciate that you are going to get a test before leaving Washington but what about the airplane and airports you travel through. We just went through this with my in-laws. As far breweries About 3/4 are open with outside seating the others are doing curbside pickup but per Vermont Covid regulations (which Vermonters follow) if you are not form an approved county (all in the northEast) you MUST quarantine for 7 days and then you can get tested.Test are typically scheduled within 24 hours and as of Friday results are coming back in about 36hours.I’d be happy to get you the info to set up a test. You MUST respect the rules, this is why we have the lowest case numbers in the country. I’m not trying to be a jerk, just stating the facts. The respect for the regulations is why we have the lowest numbers in the country, PLEASE understand that. I’d be happy to help you out with a trade to help you get your Vermont fix.

Was afraid I was gonna get this response. Appreciate your offer of setting up a trade, but you know that it's not just about the beer.

It's about being a responsible human being and doing your part to prevent the spread of this global pandemic. The Green Mountains aren't going anywhere.

You are right. It’s also about not spreading a deadly virus. Respect the people of Vermont by waiting until next year to visit. Your at home quarantine is worth shit after traveling across the country.

“you know that it's not just about the beer.“ Opening post asks about specific breweries and bars and how they are operating during the pandemic. Gotcha.

If you are not living in the Northeast right now, do not come to the Northeast. We are the one region of the country that has been respecting mask and distancing regulations since this began, and that's why we are able to have our breweries, beaches, coffee shops, museums and everything else open.

That you think nothing of potentially catching the virus on two flights and multiple airports after your test comes back -- or, you know, looking up VT's rules for incoming travelers -- says everything we need to know about you. Stay out.

Seems our Washingtonian friend understood that it wasn't a good idea after the very first response...don't really think we need to pile on. Expressing disappointment =/= fuck y'all, can't stop me.

Not that I disagree with the sentiment, obviously, that traveling this year is irresponsible.

'Was afraid I was gonna get this response' is indicative of somebody that had the self-awareness to know a cross-country leisure trip right now was going to be discouraged and looked down upon... but forged forward with it anyway.

So no, I don't think they should be given the courtesy of polite responses.

Nice edit. I read it as he didn’t like the response he got from @vtcraft by how he followed it up with it being not just about the beer. @vtcraft reply gave him the info he asked for while also being very clear about the travel restrictions, etc.

Sure, some piling on, but if someone doesn’t understand the issue with traveling across the country from a state with upward trending numbers to the state with the lowest numbers in the country, sometimes it takes a little bit more to get through to them and it’s warranted.

there are tens of thousands who enter this state and do not quarantine. Drive down Rt. 30 north of Brattleboro and you will see 200 out of state care parked by the swimming holes. One responsible person who takes a test and flies here will not make any difference. Take the test and drive across.

Yeah I think the blow-back in this thread is reflective of "us" not having control over the traveling of people around the country IRL, even though the original poster is taking some level of precaution which I suspect the vast majority of visitors to the northeast are not. I saw a Washington state license plate at an RI state beach yesterday, although I hope they did not drive all the way over here for vacation with a perfectly good ocean in their backyard.

One on hand I sympathize with the OP but on the other hand I can't even take a "staycation" to Mass or Maine right now even though my state has the virus mostly under control.

I can’t imagine wanting to travel across the country right now. That’s just me. A short, 2 or 3 hour drive in an automobile, yes. Across the country, no. But that’s just me.

Please return to your self-appointed duties counting out-of-state plates at local swimming holes.

it is hard to miss a miles long line down the side of a highway (and all subsequent posts on FB complaining about them). If these out of staters can swim together (and there no bathroom facilities, then I have no problem with a responsible person flying in from Washington.

Will you be sending the OP a permission slip to travel or is it just an honor system type thing? I will alert the media when you provide your decision.
