It seems like the non-store pick ones are actually more rare. Though, I imagine they all taste relatively the same unless you have specific information that a certain store pick is really awesome or really bad.

Can't comment on the stouts other than to say that the Starry Noche is certainly out of range with regular BL stuff. For the Lam I'd say you'd be looking at combining three of them, probably? And even then it'd take the right set of eyes for someone who values lambic to want BL quantity for it.

That's because so many places had a OWA store pick in the works, or maybe just an OWA order, and they were offered OWA or FP, and places chose full proof. Wild to otherwise see so much of a new product entering the market as a "store pick." You have to wonder how many of these will commence going forward.

No store pick, just a standard bottle.

I’ve asked previously about Hill Works of Love Sante in terms of bourbon, but where does it stand for beer? I have a couple of bottles and really not doing much ship trading lately so I’m reluctant to post to the limited forum, but I’ve gotten very little traction locally. I’m looking for more mixed ferm or straight stouts (not heavy pastry).

Is it 1:1+ with Thousand Summers
    1:1++ with westly (recent batch)
    Maman?
    side project oude, tete?

    Beers of this caliber. Thanks!

My expectation is it is trading close to 1:1 (maybe around a flora b8 higher) than Samuel.

You could get at least a nice plus from 1ks, probably ~2x most recent westly, and could get 2x Maman 19 with a plus around the realm of a BoT FVH bottle or something similar.

Thanks. Appreciate your input since I have zero clue on valuations and you have quite the insight.

Reasonable number of revolution Ba cans for a new b14 stagg jr? 10 would seem close for $4$ but unsure on beer to bourbon tax

I’m curious of this as well. Mostly because I have not seen many reviews of B14 yet, but those that I have read haven’t been glowing (if the standard for glowing is 12 or 13, whichever was Wiskey of the year). The ones I have seen have so far just been “good, but not next level.” People are always a bit crazy on whiskey prices/valuations, so I’m always curious where something like Stagg Jr B14 sits.

I hear ya. It’s tough to know if it’s still great, just not next level, or it’s just a so-so barrel proof. I personally enjoy stagg jr, whatever batch.

I enjoy whiskey, and people on here know that. But it’s just kind of crazy the prices for some items, and what people buy just to hawk. You go on MBC, and people are hawking ER for twice the price. Not a store pick, just regular. Then you have regular stores charging $100 for EHT Smb (Which is quality juice, sure, but arguably way more than it should go for).

I recently found a local Facebook group, and the way these people talk is just...drives me crazy. Somewhere between borderline incoherent, the hypest of the hypest language (no matter what people have), they hold Blantons as the gold standard, and seem like a large number of truck chasers belong.

Somewhat of a rant, but just saying that I’m always interested in valuations, especially when there is limited data, and the world be crazy.

Ha. EHT is good, but there’s a reason it’s 40 bucks. Same with Eagle Rare. The hype is real on bourbon.
My post wasn’t the intention to gouge or blow up value, I just personally don’t like doing 1:1 trades bourbon to beer and try to keep things as fair and $4$ as possible.

Currently sitting on a Stagg Jr b13 and am curious on its value in regards to bigger stouts or barleywines. Anyone have any insight on what I could expect as a reasonable return?

Stagg Jr is stagg jr regardless of batch. Retail is 50-60 & secondary is about double that.

That’s if you can even find it which tends to be the biggest problem. Even at $100-120 is hard to find.

Stagg Jr b13 has closed BAA 2020 a couple times.

Agree @Rustytacos they seem to be snagged up quickly. I usually see them as cheap as ~70 at total wine and up to 110 in bourbon groups.

Additionally, there is hype around b12 since breaking bourbon named it best bourbon of the year in 2019. This batch tends to trade higher than the other batches.
