Thanks for the update. Did they end up selling extra bottles like last year?

Not yet. Went at 7 to pick up bottles for my brother and his friends. About 8 asked the server what they were doing with the extra and if I could buy one, he told me he didn’t know what was happening with them.

Agree with eppie though on the MD profile. Maples syrup on the nose. Huge maple taste up front with a coffee finish. Probably my favorite MD yet due to the mixture. Usually the coffee or maple dominates more but this was just a perfect balance.

Brew master Mike posted a bottle of term oil s’mores on his Twitter. Looks like the bottling of the TO series has begun.

So was tequila barrel assassin ever officially released? I heard somewhere that there was a super small tap room release to just whoever was there at the time, but never got confirmation on that.
Side note: super excited for term oil smores

There's untappd check-ins, love the most recent one:

"Honestly had higher hopes for this... Classic assassin with a tangy unique finish, but would like more viscosity"

    4.5/5

Not yet officially released but it will be from what I gather. I personally thought it was very good and I am not a tequila fan in general.

Think a lot of the others were hyped rare beer early check ins too. Felt assassin this year was thinner than in years past as well, which may play a role in that persons rating.

I can't read minds, but I think @Chuckdiesel24 was poking fun of the semi-ridiculousness of the comment and the accompanying score. "Higher hopes," a lack of viscosity, and (for me at least) a comment involving the word "tangy" do not describe a BA stout that is 4.5. Either it's not actually a 4.5 beer, and they rate way too generously, or they are trying to prop up the rating, or it actually is, and their review sucks (should say something like - "world class, but compared to past assassins...[insert review quoted above]."

Was that person rating regular or tequila assassin? I do not do Untappd. Tequila assassin was 2019 assassin not 2020. I also thought 2019 was a bit thinner on the mouth feel but thought the balance and flavor profile was as good as it has been in years. Close to second favorite to yellow wax for me.

Tequila is green wax like 2020. 2019 I felt was much superior to 2020

It is green wax but 19 assassin per Clark...

Wanted to check in here for opinions of some regular TG drinkers. Many stores near me currently have 4pks of King Sue, canned 6/12. Can't find any fresher. None will sell singles.

So before I splash $20 on a 4pk, how quickly have people found this beer to fall off? Can I be reasonably confident it'll still pop at three months old?

As much as I love King Sue I would not spend $20 on a four pack for any three month old IPA. But I guess it depends on how much fresh hops mean to you taste wise. Plus you should have other excellent fresh IPA choices out your way.

We got the same drop here in SoCal and luckily was able to just snag a single at my local spot. I specifically only bought 1 given the can date. I drank it this past weekend and while certainly not bad by any means, the hops did not pop and fairly muted. I notice with TG hops over 2 months their haze develops a buttery character. Not a turn off for some people but I find it a bit off putting. At this point that batch of king sue definitely has the buttery thing going on. Personally, I wouldn't drop $20 on any hops over a month hold, and no exception here. Cheers

Thanks, that was basically my thinking too. I've occasionally found Pseudo Sue pretty fresh around here, and it's a great beer that can compete with the best of New England. I'd love to try the bigger version, but I'll wait until I can find it fresher.

An unfortunate side-effect of having so many great local options is that even fabulous beers from elsewhere can sit in the cooler for a long time. I've been waiting quite a while now for my local to sell their last few aging packs of Two Hearted (canned in April). As soon as they bring in some fresh stuff I'll jump on it, but for all I know t was just me and a couple other date-checking buyers who were purchasing it. In that case the now old beer may never move, the beer buyer will think 'too bad, that product doesn't sell,' and we won't see it again.

If you are interested I may be able to send you some fresher King Sue, send me a message and we can work something out if you'd like.

Appreciate the kind offer but I'm not into the trading/shipping game - just a step into this hobby I haven't taken. But I have hopes of getting lucky with fresh King Sue next time I visit family in WI. Maybe I'll even be able to convince my dad that he'd enjoy a nice drive to Decorah.

Anecdotally I thought that batch wasn't good. It had the same off taste as the recalled Mosaic (?) Dry Hopped Psuedo Sue. I emailed TG about it but never heard back.

King falls off pretty bad right around 3-4 weeks in a can. So I would stay away especially at price point... Its $14.99 were I grab it in northern WI, and I dont buy it unless its dropped off fresh, within a week of canning.

Pompeii on the other hand... I've had good cans of Pompeii that were past their drink by date.
