Always a special treat whenever I can stumble across this somewhere! By far one of the cleanest tasting beers that can be found. Wish I could try a bottle from Italy to see if there is any difference, but have yet to find a way to procure one.

I felt like something fudgey this afternoon - Arkane’s “4 Fingers And...Rye Whiskey BA Imperial Stout with Chocolate, Coconut & Marshmallows”, a collab with Mortalis Brewing Co.:

Black pour with ruby edges at 54 degrees; quick tan cap; no cap retention, no ring, no lace; flecks of coconut floating on top; thick heavy legs. Nose is chocolate and coconut; boozy whiskey exhale; vanilla; toasted marshmallow s’mores. Sweet chocolate fudge, marshmallow, graham cracker, vanilla and loads of toasted coconut; boozy rye whiskey, white oak middle, followed by dark fruit - plums and sugared raisins; black pepper on the backend. Slick viscous feel; full minus body, decadent yet short of syrupy; medium minus carbonation; no warmth from 11% abv; dry rye finish. Overall, awesome; not adjuncty, good balance between barrel and additions; layers of sweet s’mores, burnt marshmallows, dark chocolate, toasted coconut and booze - a wow beer!

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass canned on 7/23/2020. Pours a hazy dark yellow with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.25

Smell is papaya, peach, honeydew, pineapple, and apricot. 4

Taste follows papaya, peach, honeydew, pineapple, and apricot. 4

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, soft gentle carbonation, a tad sticky not dry, and drinks a little bigger than 6.6%. 4

Overall nothing wrong with this one, but in the Spyglass world this is below average. 4 Cheers all.

Last can I have of this. If your a fan of Nelson Sauvin hops, this one is for you. ASB never disappoints with Nelson Baby!, and the high ratings are well deserved.

Perfect beer in the high heat stranglehold mother nature has on California.

Getting this Monday started with some cold brewed coffee in stout format, PM Dawn from Trillium. Last can of this fresh original, still have a near 2yr old can of the cacao version, and had a last coconut one a week or two ago that was excellent. This stout is super rich for just an imperial stout with coffee, all kinds of notes from mochaccino and Italian desserts to black cherry and fresh fig. Cheers!

Nickel Brook Brewing Wicked Awesome IPA. Yes, it is. 6.5% ABV and 64 IBU. Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. Easily worthy of the 90 score it rates on BA. I’ve had about fifteen different beers from this brewery and don’t think they’ve ever really let me down. Cheers.
