Or near San Clemente? My brother is visiting and I am trying to direct him on stores to hit that might carry anything from these breweries. Or if anyone can suggest anything else that is worth trying that we don't get here in IL. I think he is staying really close to Olive Street Marketplace but he said they dont have any Alpine in stock. Any ideas of where I can direct their efforts?
I think my bro brought some bombers of Three Floyds and Pipeworks with him as well, so if anyone wans to trade or just chill he would probably be cool with that as well. I keep telling him to get on BA but he is lazy
Did you mean Oceanside? Oceanside is up around San Clemente, but Ocean Beach is down in San Diego proper. If you meant Ocean Beach, have him make the scenic drive east to Alpine. Make sure he has some Nelson Rye IPA while he's there. Hopefully, they'll have some bottles for him to take by now. Further, if you did mean Ocean Beach, then he should avail himself to all that San Diego has to offer--starting with Pizza Port. In fact, if he does start drinking beer in San Diego, you may never see or hear from him again...
Yes Ocean Beach was correct. I did tell him to head out to Alpine but I'm not sure if they will. The friend he is visiting used to live in San Clemente which is why they were driving up there earlier. I think they used to go to Pizza Port back then up in San Clemente so I'm trying to get him to branch out to other places. Plus I want him to bring some beer back home Is there anything from Ballast Point or Alesmith or Kern River around the San Diego/ORange County area? Really just trying to steer him towards anything that we dont get out here.
You can sometimes find KRBC JO around here (Ocean Beach), but no Citra. Ballast Point and Alesmith offerings are literally everywhere. And yes, have him go to Alpine.
Definitely go to Alpine! I can't say enough about their wizardry. Plus, the food's not bad in the pub. Service is really laid back and helpful. If I had just a few places to visit in San Diego, it'd be Alpine, Pizza Port in OB, and Coronado for some Idiot and Baby Idiot and, of course, to see the hotel and the prettiest beach in CA. Since it sounds like he might be headed back toward San Clemente, on his way north out of town, he can stop off in Mira Mesa for AleSmith, Ballast Point, and Green Flash. Further, it's San Diego, so he should find tons of bottles that you won't have in Illinois just about anywhere he decides to park and walk in. Unless it's beer week (which was about three weeks ago), there'll be no Citra to be found in San Diego. Or anywhere in CA other than KR, as far as I know.
What's great there? Only been once, but I may head there this Saturday. I tried the BBQ pork sandwich last time, and thought it was solid but not amazing. Anything specific that is a can't-miss?
