    Ok awesome man. I actually just left Park Slope. We were on 4th st between 6th and 7th av (so very close to that hospital) for a few years, and then later moved further south to 13th street.

    Caveat is I moved away from the area about a month and a half ago - so maybe some of this will have changed - but (biased though I may be) you'll be in a great spot. At the north end of the park you have Gold Star Beer Counter (Prospect Heights) and Covenhoven (just over PH border in Crown Heights). Both are bar-cum-stores. In normal times I think Gold Star is the best beer anything in NYC, period. In present times (and before it gets too cold) both are no-brainers for to-go beer that you can then take to Prospect Park. Covenhoven additionally has a back garden which I believe is open for on-site consumption now. It is also a really great spot. For more easy park drinking, on the south west side you have 209 Station (store) and across the street Double Windsor (bar/pub). More broadly speaking you will be close to Gowanus (Threes Brewing, Finback BK, Strong Rope are breweries there). As far as bars in the area you'll have Mission Dolores and Owl Farm.

    Both Mission Dolores & Threes had existing outdoor seating options pre-COVID which are now open (I think) vs the more dice rolling street seating some other places have had to cobble together.

    And then Other Half will be 1-1.5 mile walk/ride/bus or so depending on where you end up renting. To-go only but still an obvious source of beer. Folksbier (another brewery) and Bar Great Harry (bar - same owners as Mission and Owl) are other options close to OH. There's a Whole Foods in gowanus but WF in general have been scaling back their options. Still a solid-ish option.

    Edit - with family there I’m sure you know about it. But Hometown BBQ in red hook is unreal

    Awesome, thanks! We went to Hometown when we visited just prior to the pandemic in February. Amazing food and nice tap list!

    Was just over by these places yesterday and can confirm both of these outdoor seating areas are open. MD has awnings over their open space to protect from sun/rain and Threes put up some umbrellas and whatnot and an online reservation system -- they also have space out front that accepts walk-ups and is pretty well covered. Also, close to Hometown, Sixpoint recently re-opened their courtyard at the brewery.

    @jhavs, welcome to Brooklyn!

    Thanks! Getting excited for the move now, even though I’ve been in rural NH for 15 years.

    Man...you are going from one extreme to the other, that’s for sure. Welcome to NY. Maybe you can snatch up @RauchbierFan33 place.

    We moved here from Long Island. So shouldn’t be a total shock. My wife is from the area and we will be right by all her family.

    I just received a notification that NYC can start at 25% capacity indoor at restaurants starting on 9/30.

    Old thread, but seemed like the best option instead of creating a new one.

    Anyone or any group of BA’s that gets together for bottle shares in or around Brooklyn?

    I know it may be on hiatus due to pandemic, but figured I would see what was out there.
