Get some of the Voll Projekt Hefe while you can. @soheadyithurts says I need to try the Live Oak Hefe, but of the American Hefes I've tried, this is my favorite.

I really dig the Voll Hefe, but I think Live Oak’s is the best American one I’ve had.

But it kind of depends on what you want. Live Oak’s is a banana bomb, and I love that aspect in Hefeweizens.

I'm sure it's great. Live Oak's reputation precedes itself. I just haven't had a chance to try it. I'm looking forward to trying all of the Live Oak catelog. Some day.

Definitely hit up Austin for a myriad of reasons, this being one of them.

If you go also check out AGBG, apparently they make killer lagers too.

And go to Jester King simply because that whole "tap room" is gorgeous.

Live Oak and ABG are both high on my list of breweries to visit. I've wanted to go forever, but for some reason, I have not (I haven't been to a lot of the craft beer hubs like Austin, PDX, Asheville yet).

How is this different or similar to Notch’s other Czech Pilsners?

Another vote for Live Oak! My last trip to Austin was a year ago. Awesome beers

Pretty sure it uses Saaz. Standard uses Sterling (which is sort of American Saaz). Not sure of any other differences. 4.2% not 4.4?

Got a four pack. It's much different than Desitka, Standard, and Tenner.

Hops are front and center on this one. I need to sit down and analyze it more, these are just my first impressions from having two cans while hanging out this weekend.

Your palate my vary, but if you're looking for something akin to the big three above, this isn't it. If you prefer a more hop forward brew, then this will be your jam.

While I do find the other three somewhat hoppy, I would never call them "hop forward", far more balance there. Really allows those sweet bready melanoidin characteristics that the dedoction mashing brings out to shine.

I saw that, and I HIGHLY doubt it will be that long. Summer at the latest in my opinion.

I could be wrong, but this is based on a combination of personal research and working in the industry.

We're likely to not have just one vaccine/anti viral by the summer, but multiple.

There's a good joke in here about vaccine delays being caused by you spending time posting here on BA and obsessing about Czech lagers but I can't quite find the right words.

I’ve seen you post about vaccines a few times and can’t help but note the optimism. While I agree a vaccine will probably be approved by this time next year, but do you really think there will be enough manufacturing and distribution in place for it to be available to the general population? High risk, sure. But the rest of us?

    Yes.

AstraZeneca is locked and loaded to produce 300 million doses of the Oxford vaccine by October for the US alone (there’s 328 million people in the US). They’re also making Moderna’s. I forget the number for Moderna’s, but that’s relatively high as well. Not to mention AstraZeneca’s own vaccine which I believe has just entered Phase III trials (Monderna’s and Oxford’s is already underway).

The other biggie is Pfizer’s. The CDC is already preparing for two “mystery” vaccines...which are Moderna’s and Pfizer’s.

These companies all geared up production months ago for the vaccines so they’re ready to go as soon as the FDA grants approval.

The industry learned a lot this year about accelerating vaccine development. Corners were NOT cut, but they did discover they could overlap certain steps. Remember early on most were speculating AT LEAST two years? There’s a real possibility people in the US will get the vaccine this year.

When companies’ entire supply chains, R & D...etc. are all geared towards manufacturing one type of vaccine...well to put it frankly, shit gets done.

Manufacturing the vaccines won’t hold this back, if anything it will be how fast Phase III trials can conclude. This relies on people actually getting Covid in the real world, since injecting people with actual Covid to test the vaccine is unethical. This is because there’s no cure for the virus yet. That being said, they are exploring this option by using healthy young people, and have already obtained volunteers.
