Zero Gravity Oktoberfest hitting distribution next week according to their IG.

I also saw that CBC Westford got Queen City’s Oktoberfest today. Has anyone tried that one? I’m thinking it’ll be good considering they seem to have a strong classic style/lager game.

Just had an East Rock Octoberfest - I thought it was pretty good.
Looking forward to trying NEBCO'S schnitzengiggles

Picked up a 4 pack today!

Along with Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Bier, Paulaner’s Marzen, and H-P’s Oktoberfest.

Anyone in the Somerville/Cambridge area seeing the imports on tap?

So far Magoun’s has nothing, and all I’ve seen is Weihenstephan’s Festbier at Elm Street Tap Room.

Picked up a 6 pack of Hofbrau festbier. Good, but Weihenstephaner has still be my favorite so far.
    More research required...

I think it comes down to preference.

If you like a beefier Oktoberfest, Hofbrau is your jam. Borderline pale Maibock to some, darker in color and clocking in at 6.3%.

If you want something lighter and closer to a Helles, but with a bit more oomph, Weihenstephan’s your pick. Lighter in color and coming in at 5.8%.

Weihenstephan’s has arguably been the most consistent Oktoberfest (pale or amber) to me in the many years that I’ve been enjoying this style. A perennial favorite, and this year is no different.

But you really can’t wrong with either one.

Throw on some Sunday football, plop down on your couch, and fill your Maßkrug with either one.

    Prost!

Sure is! Driving home from hiking in NH yesterday I saw CBC Nashua had it so I made the pit stop (before making another pit stop at CBC Westford for Queen City Oktoberfest).

I’m also pretty excited Medusa canned their Marzen and Festbier.

Looks like Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier and Weihenstephaner Festbier just hit the taps at Olde Magoun's Saloon.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for a ton of imports this year. Distributors are running pretty tight inventory on any specialty/seasonal offering. Some of them are sitting on a lot of old beer (stuff they had in stock in March when everything shut down), and with the end of patio season coming in maybe two months time, restaurants are going to be moving even less draft beer than they currently are. So far I've only seen draft offerings available from Ayinger, Hofbrau, Paulaner, and Weihenstephaner. There are definitely fewer kegs of each in the market than in previous years. This is probably exacerbated by the fact that the months during which many restaurants were closed was the time when festbier pre-orders would normally have been placed.

Thanks for peeing in my Cheerios.

No but seriously, that makes sense, thanks for the info. I’ll just have to settle for the litany of Oktoberfests in my overflowing fridge.

What would people recommend as a really good example of the style? Local or import just something available.

Cracked a Von Trapp Oktoberfest and Schilling Konstantin Marzen recently. Both were absolutely delicious and would buy again. Von Trapp was lighter bodied with slightly more bitterness, but it made it so damn drinkable.

Pale Oktoberfest - Hofbrau or Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, since these are the beers they serve at the tents in Munich

Amber Oktoberfest - Paulaner Marzen or Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen

Had my first Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier and it’s drinking wonderfully. Slightly more heft than weihenstephaner, not quite as much bite as HB.

Such a great time of year.

The draft list seems to be offline @ Magoun's. Where are you seeing that?

Tempted to spend this Sunday watching NFL @ Magoun's drinking festbier liters, but I'll be content watching at home with my Hoffbrau Festbier mini-keg - which is tasting fantastic again this year.
