Looks like a limit 2. Either stretching out the orders or not much to go around. Place your bets! I'd actually rather just grab it locally from Binnys, but it will prob be Limit 1 if allocation at the source is only 2.

That's the public pre-order limit. The RevRewards will probably be the same but haven't seen any announcement on when / if that'll happen this time

Stupid question, and not like it really affects me, but when people say 2 and 1, are we talking individual cans or packs (4 packs, 2 packs)?

I'm sure this was asked somewhere in the thread, but the RevRewards online does not track actual rewards $, correct? I blew past the next $20 mark and it still shows a $0 balance, but I think BeerCruncher said it is still recognized at the BrewPub in their physical location.

Since Thundertaker is a collaboration with Binny's using their store pick Blanton's barrels, they're getting a lot of the volume. We'd absolutely encourage you to pick yours up from them. So this will be our most limited release of the year, not in total volume, but in what we have available to sell out of the brewery. The closest size comparison I can think of for reference would be the first year we did the Summer barleywines, as far as what the brewery has. In total volume, it's a little more than Mixed Berry Ryeway was. So plenty to go around, but lower than most, which is why the limit is down to 2 for this one. Lots more come very very soon, and also some new 16oz cans that I'm excited about including a throwback finally returning from the dead.

Correct - you cannot see your accrued monetary rewards on the Rev Rewards site.
However, you can see the points you get awarded by looking at History and you'll see at a transaction "Merit earned." This will help you add up your points.
You can also see when a reward was used as it will say under "Rewards."
    "$20 for every 300pts...$20.00"
If no reward was used it will say "No rewards." This is also reflected on the History page in the Discount column.
The confusion started during COVID and online sales, since Rev could not apply your accrued rewards to online purchases. You can only use your accrued rewards in person, so stop by the Brewpub for some to-go beer or food, or hang out and use them.

I thought we've been through this...no more BA genes. BUT, there's something coming that should scratch your itch.

Will Marty and Jim be doing the tasting videos again this year? I know covid has probably changed some things but I really loved those videos last year and I think a lot of people here did as well. Also would like your usual tasting notes. Very excited for Deep Woods season.

I'm hoping that they do. I used to be behind the camera of a lot of that stuff, but passed the torch at the beginning of the year. We're working on some interactive, live events at the Brewpub (2nd floor) with very small limits on people (~20), but doing a bunch of them in 90 minute sessions. That won't happen with Thundertaker, but will likely pilot for the Deth's Tar / Cafe / Maple release and we'll see how its received.

I'll do my best to do an Instagram thing before each release with the beer that people are most curious about. I try not to "review" our beers since there's obvious bias, but instead give some objective comparisons and prepare you for what to expect. I can definitely do a Thundertaker one and will try to do that over the weekend.

Someone asked about a Deep Wood glass awhile back. Fingers crossed, I hear that one is in the works but I haven't seen it yet.

DDH Cashmere Hero is pretty much flawless. Probably the last drinkable 8% hazy ive found this year. Although cashmere isn’t a hop that jumps out of the glass on it own and blows you away, I’ve found it to be a awesome partner to other hops. See Mind Haze, Bodem, Mountain Standard, ect. This comes off a bit generic, but perfectly executed. No greenness, ready to go now. This feels kind of like Hazy Hero on steroids.

So, last year's Deth's Tar was a blend of 4 different years worth of beer. It was noted on last year's thread & confirmed on this year's announcement:

"In 2019, this approach culminated in a singular vintage of Deth’s Tar that featured four different barrel years. This year's lineup hits with more barrel variety, blend complexity, and stylistic flair than ever – though we’re also bringing back refreshed versions of some of your favorite Deep Wood variants over the years."

I assume that will NOT be the case this year? Seems like that would be tough to pull off year after year.

    Paging @BeerCruncher

Am I reading this correctly that Thundertaker is Ryeway to Heaven aged exclusively in Bourbon barrels rather than a mix of Bourbon and Rye barrels?

(Yes, I know thundertaker also uses "special" bourbon barrels, but I'm focused much more on the fact it's bourbon only rather than a mix of bourbon and rye.)

I guess I'm not sure how much the rye barrels added to that beer. It sounds like, perhaps, the viscosity of Thundertaker is greater than with Ryeway to heaven, but otherwise it doesn't sound...that different?
