Hey friends - No I'm not in the wrong thread :stuck_out_tongue:, but am a fanboy like the rest of you. I wanted to let you know that I'm partnering with Half Acre on a silent auction via Instagram that's part of an effort over the last month to raise money for a specific project at Lurie Children's hospital. Long story short, the winner receives 2 of every Half Acre release from 10/1 - 12/31 which will include Benthic and all the variants, which there will be a lot of this year. You'll get 2 of whatever format they're sold as, ie if its a 2-pack, then you'll get 2x of those (4 cans total), if it's a 4-pack, you'll get 8 cans total.

The winning bidder will also get to schedule Zoom tasting for you and some friends with members of the Half Acre team including at least one of the founders Matt or Gabriel.

This is the 3rd of these auctions I've done this month and am trying to do one everyone Monday until our goal is met. You can track down more info in my profile page if you're interested in bidding, perhaps with a couple friends. It will launch on Instagram on Monday at 7:30pm with bids being accepted in the comments for 24 hours. Sorry I hope this comes off as relevant and not SPAM, as I wanted to get the concept in front of Half Acre's hard core fans. Cheers!

    -Doug

Nice! What do you think is a reasonable amount to bid without upsetting ones' wife? Keeping in mind she enjoys Vallejo.

It's not beer, and it's not a haul, but I just had to have these new glasses. Bought 4.

Absolutely did not need any more glasses but couldn’t resist buying 1 also! And breaking it in with a howler of Catch Hell was pretty damn sweet! Should have been accompanied by a can of Heyoka (or I forget what it’s called now)!

I used to know what it was called but I suspect it's gone away.

Hot Damn! Buddy of mine brought me a couple cans of Alive in its Jaws. Good lord, that is one hell of a beer. Interesting that the hop bill seems to be slightly different than last year (based on their twitter/IG posts).

2019: Galaxy, Sabro, Citra, and Amarillo
2020: Nelson Sauvin, Galaxy, Citra and Sabro

But hey, less Amarillo is always a good thing in my book!

I quite enjoyed Alive In Its Jaws last year. Thankfully, the Sabro took a back seat last year and has again now this year. Tasting great again this year imo.

It's a shame that when I see "with Sabro added" it holds the same weight as if I were to see a beer can "with Roundup Weed Killer added". #EndSabro #Saveahopuseacoconut

Yeah, I wouldn’t have bought it for myself since Sabro is either really good or horrible (almost no middle ground). This is really stellar and the Sabro lends some supporting flavors without dominating.

Orin Bourbon & BrandyBarrel Aged Ale is available this Thursday on Curbside. ⠀

We approached 2020 Orin differently than any previous batch. With an eye towards complexity and nuance, this year's Orin is comprised of a blend of the 2019 and 2020 vintages aged in various spirit barrels. ⠀

A quarter of the blend was aged 23 months in bourbon barrels, with another third aging 9 months in VSOP Brandy barrels, and the rest in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. The beer hits with vanilla and toffee richness with a slightly tannic finish. The 2019 components of this beer add a rich, smooth character that only time can provide. We're extremely proud of this vintage and look forward to releasing it to you all on Thursday.

this is a criminally under-appreciated beer and I am very excited for this double (or triple?!) barrel treatment.
