Foggy Geezer (Warpigs) also is billed as "hazy" but is not what most would consider hazy. It's not crystal clear, I guess that makes it "hazy."

I always thought the Warpigs IPAs were a troll. Lazurite the hazy one is labeled as an IPA. Foggy Geezer the clear one is labeled as hazy.

LOL, I didn't think either of them were particularly hazy by today's standards, but yeah - Lazurite is hazier than Foggy Geezer.

Lazurite is a really underrated IPA, by the way.

First impression of Barbarian Haze (had it from the can so can’t confirm if it is see through) and it probably wasn’t chilled enough, but the mouthfeel is spot on. It was thick, silky and full. Did they use lactose or oats to get there? I don’t know. Seems to have a slight lactose sweetness, but I could be mistaken. That being said, the hop profile
Didn’t hit for me. If they can replicate this mouthfeel and nail a better hop combo for a 6.5%er I’d be buying each one they put out. TL;DR mouthfeel is spot on, hop flavor tastes like a session beer rather than bright, full fruit blast.

I strongly disagree with your take on the mouthfeel, here!

I bought a single can & found the mouthfeel to be as thin as a Bud Light. Never mind that it had a lager-like finish as well.

I fully agree that the hop combo wasn't appealing, but I found this closer to one of those "India Pale Lager" beers than anything resembling a New England IPA.

I don't post this to be rude, just to show how different experiences can be on these things, especially on a style that seems to be so subjective. Overall I'm a @HouseofWortship supporter.

Oh, and while it was a touch cloudy, there is certainly no "haze" here.

You can disagree with me, but I won't disagree with you. As I said in my initial take on it, it probably wasn't chilled enough (an hour on fridge express chill) so it was somewhat warmer than I'd normally prefer. I was hoping it would be better colder. Cracking a can tonight that had a chance to get ice cold over 24 hours- totally different beer. I think your review is spot on- I get a grainy, macro lager like flavor, it's thin, it's a mess flavor wise and no juice. It is remarkable how much flavor and body difference a beer can show based on temperature.

    The box art though....

Based on the merchandise, fff really planned to go all in on Barbarian Haze. ... And the scores are lukewarm. The hype train is idling at best.

Had it on draft. was a neutral meh beer on my end. Bland cracker / grapefruit taste, decent body.

    3.5 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 3.5 / 3.0 score on my end, wouldn't seek it out again, would drink it for free.

One day late! I was literally at Munster Donut yesterday on my way driving through. If they had BrooDoo yesterday, I would have stopped in for a 6 pack.

Picked up Broo Doo...solid beer, nothing wrong with it, but doesn't deliver the flavor punch of a modern NEIPA. Solid West Coaster though. I'm actually quite pleased with the other pick-up, Windmill Brewing/s Mysterious Puddles which is a NEIPA with Nelson hops and grape must. Well balance and hits enough different notes to make it an enjoyable beer.

I picked up a six pack last week. While it's rate it a little higher, I agree with the general sentiment

Not really supposed to deliver what an NEIPA delivers...right? It’s a wet hop IPA...

Broo Doo is probably my favorite FFF seasonal. And the switch to 12oz bottles last year made it even better. My favorite part of this time of year is wet hop brews.

Agreed. Just wish we got more of them around here. Probably not even worth starting a thread for them.:slight_frown: I don't even think Surly Wet made it here last year. It's one I've enjoyed in the past.

It’s salt and pepper in the age of bbq sauce. Salt and pepper deliver what they are supposed to, but pale in comparison to the flavor offered by bbq sauce.

They would also need the minority of customers who are satisfied with salt and pepper only.

I'll take salt and pepper rubbed smoked wings over bbq sauce wings any day of the week!
