Ya I expect that is the norm. I work in cannabis though and regularly see and feel the pressure to harvest prematurely, rush the drying process, and cut other corners to get product to market faster. I know the same thing happens with fruit as well. I'm sure its not a usual occurrence but it might explain some of the duds people encounter

You may be right. Even though the law of averages suggests some of the duds were duds in the brite tank, the fleeting nature of those FH volatiles always makes me wonder if the dud I’m tasting was sublime 2 days prior. The flip side of that is when you do find a standout, it feels like the stars aligned at that time and place.

That is the beauty of wet hop beers to me, they're one of those wonderful human artefacts that takes a tremendous amount of effort and skill, but feels like they can't really reach that unique transcendent character without a healthy dollup of luck

Just opened a crowler of Matchless C.S.A. Farm Harvest, listed as a fresh hop beer. by Beer Junction (where I picked it up on Friday) Based on the name this sounds right, but I can't find much info about this one and it appears to be retired on BA (2019 version). Still a really nice bright pale ale. I haven't tried any of the fresh hop beers folks have been fawning over this season, but it definitely has that nice clean acidity I look for in a fresh hop beer. Drinkable and refreshing. Cheers!

I opened a Fresh Hop Pilsner from Occidental last night and was rather disappointed. It's a solid pilsner, as most Occidental's are, but there was little, if any, actual FH character to it. I think I detected a bit of grassy/herb on the finish, but it was a stretch.

My experience as well. Still a nice beer, but not a lot of fh character.

Breakside Milwaukie still has FH Wanderlust on tap but cans are gone. Heard Dekum and Slabtown didn't open due to hazardous air quality, but they may still have cans.

Guessing we’ll hear about the first FtF this week. The Idaho Gem FH is solid. Enjoying it right now.

Based on last year, the beer had about week before losing a lot of the FH character.

I had my first fresh hop of the season in a tallboy of Pleasure Race by Mirage. Centennial is certainly not the most exotic hop nowadays, but Michael at Mirage squeezed out a ton of citrus tones from them for this hazy IPA. Get one if you see it.

Yep. More than any beer I can recall, their fh pils lost it's fh character pretty quickly. It was fabulous the first week after release, but after that it became pretty mundane pretty quickly. But that first week...

    HYPE.

I've never seen centenntial and sabro together, should be extremely interesting. A little bummed there's no simcoe, it's always my favorite, but I'll take all the fresh hop I can get.

With that said, we canned Green Initiative today, so cans will start popping up in the next couple of days. Already on tap at the pub in Bend.
