I have not received a Pipeworks weekly email in months. It's not in my spam folder and I re-signed up for it as well.

Have you guys been receiving their emails or did they stop sending those out?

The latter it seems. Haven't received one since covid so it's likely they are not doing them right now.

Interesting blended barrel aged with cherries available in crowlers at Beer on Central in Evanston, called Saddle Up. Anyone try it there or elsewhere?

Looks like it also showed up downstate from Untappd. Interesting that their first release in 2020 with a BA component has the BA part from 2017 and 2018 and fresh non-BA BW from 2020 blended in. I was hoping (expecting?) that this long wait after the infection debacle would have some beer coming out of barrels this year, but I guess we will have to wait longer for that.

I nabbed a crowler, and I was underwhelmed.

Not a bad beer, by any means, but it's very mild overall. I got notes of tobacco, cherry, oak & bourbon, but even when warmed up to room temperature it was a bit too close to the "boring" end of the subtlety spectrum.

I hear you. I thought the hops were pretty hot coming straight out of the fridge. I didn't get the smooth honey backbone as much as past batches. It was more enjoyable as it warmed. Letting my other cans sit for another week to see if the hops settle down.

I had one, now I keep seeing it in my fridge and choosing something else. :frowning2:

Thanks for headsup just like the gummy post!

I really really liked the Sure Bet before, so prob will avoid this batch.

I’m intrigued now. I thought the hops seemed a bit muted (overshadowed by the honey) in the past few batches I’ve had, so I may prefer this one.

I'm still really enjoying this batch of Sure Bet. Immediate Future, though, has a ton of hop burn on it; I'm going to let that one sit for a few weeks.

Yeah, I'm one can into the 4 pack. It was good but I could almost feel hop sediment.

Opened another Sure Bet tonight. The flavor seems a bit brighter than my last can but I’m sensing an odd, almost tannic, astringency on the finish.

Having my first can now as well. Agree, much brighter fresh than I recall. I see that exact astringent note you’re referring to. I imagine it will settle slightly in the next week, but i still really enjoy it. It’s definitely more hop forward than the honey/mango forward batches I’ve had the past few years. Maybe it will be back go there in a week or two, but I feel this batch is just a bit more hop forward and less fruity in general. Which I’m perfectly happy with.
