Not a hot take at all! There was a brief period when I assumed double dry hopping would be an upgrade over the base beer, no questions asked. Over time I found (mainly from trying every Trillium beer I could) this not to be the case. I think it's just overkill at times, sometimes creates an off putting astringency while the base beer was perfectly fine, smooth drinking.

Long Live does have its detractors. I'm surprised you're unimpressed by both LL and Other Half though. I was fortunate to get a huge haul of Other Half stuff when a shop in Providence (Bottles) got a surprise shipment. It pretty much got me through the full quarantine early days of Covid. I had 6 different beers, all excellent.

Just drink what you like and don't about what anything is "compared to the hype". I agree that to a newcomer, depending on your usual beers, LL could be a bit sweet.

There was an Other Half can drop for online pickup in Providence about a month into the pandemic, and nothing really wowed me.

Bummer you didn't check Tilted Barn online while in RI, I remembered to look while in the area later afternoon and they still had Cactus DIPA available for pickup before 5pm closing. Cactus definitely has a finish more of the bitter side than sweet...

We are on a beer forum, I will admit to trusting the opinions of some of these fine folks. Comparisons to treehouse will certainly pique my interest. My palate trends toward vermont stuff, HF, alchemist, upper pass, frost, river roost. The single only good that has come from this pandemic is the ability to pick up Frost and Upper Pass in Lakeville right off 495 in massachusetts.

Ive heard good things of Tilted barn, how far from providence are we talking? If im going that way I will usually bite the bullet and go all the way to fox farm (my favorite brewery)

25 minutes from Providence, then that leaves you about an hour from Fox Farm (not quite on the way but not far out of your way)

It looks like there is a Tilted Barn collaboration in the works. This is going to be epic!

FYI Long Live-Vitamin Sea collab dropped today. I was golfing but just went to see where I could pick up beer this afternoon when leaving the course and was pleasantly surprised.

I'll speak for myself, but the Tilted Barn collab being a stout (and pastry stout at that) is the biggest disappointment of this year until possibly tomorrow.

A surprise for sure. Fortunately DDH Black Cat, DDH ASE and that other collab will ease my sorrows

I for one am somewhat interested and reserved a 4-pack: Tilted Barn has not brewed an imperial stout greater than 8.5% to my recollection, so this is new ground for Matt to be helping produce. And I'm also hedging bets with the hoppy options as well.

"Shut up and take my money" week: collab quintuple IPA (not a thing but I'll humor them) with King's Brewing just released. LLB's IPAs run a little sweet but it will be welcome on a 12.5% abv bomb, much like for example I enjoy the sweetness of a DFH 120.

I’m not a big pastry stout guy. That overly sweet line is really easy to cross in my book. This Tilted Barn collab is a nice surprise, fairly sweet, very flavorful, yet still roasty with a hint of barrel heat.

I’m really enjoying it. Surprised it’s only 4.3 on Untappd. If Tree House put this in a can it’d be an instant hit
