Hello. This weekend I am driving from Southern VT to Long Lake, NY. Any beer stops along the way? Just asking because last weekend I drove right by Tired Hands without realizing until it was to late. Thank you.

Thanks for the help after 10+ years of showing other BA's around.
I guess that is the difference between the NE and the Mid-Atlantic forums.

The sense of entitlement here is nauseating. Can’t even wait a full 24 hours for a reply lol. Have you considered that you’re driving through an area that doesn’t really have much to speak of? Just a possibility:rolling_eyes:....I guess now I know why “after 10+ years of helping people on BA” you now have an account that was made a few months ago. I’ve been here for almost 14 years. Who cares.

Anyway, Artisanal Brew Works is up that way. I’ve never tried their beer but some people seem to enjoy them.

Good luck with your drive. Hope you’re more patient on the road than you are on BA

Sorry, was heading out the door. I've been here since BA was on AOL. I have probably responded to posts like this over 100 times and am always glad to help, I think this is one of the best uses of BA.
    Thanks for the help.

Grew up in So. VT and now live in Brooklyn. There really aren’t any must stops on your trip. Assuming you are going through Troy from Bennington, then could make a stop at either of Brown’s Brewings location, both of which are fine establishments, but again not going to blow you away. I was up in the ADK a couple weeks ago and stopped at Paradox Brewing (in the town of Paradox). Might be a little out of your way to Long Lake, but I enjoyed what I had (Oktoberfest and a couple different IPAs) and was good outdoor atmosphere. I’m sure there are some places in Albany area I don’t know about.

If you were willing to really go out of your way, then I’d highly recommend going a little south to Suarez.

To be fair, people posting these types of questions in the NE forums are using asking for advice for visiting Portland or Burlington, popular craft beer destinations. Lots to chime in. What attracted me to this thread was your choice of destination. Kind of a running joke with my friends. 20 years ago we all traveled there for bachelor party weekend at a cabin and tubing. When it was over, one friend remarked, “now I know why they call it Long Lake. It took a long time to get here, and it’ll be a long time before I ever come back.” Maybe it’s changed in the last 20 years but I don’t remember all that much going on up there. Sorry!

the state took over and removed all those cabins. Long Lake itself was a beer desert, there was a growler place behind Hoss's that is either temp or closed for good (boy was it needed a feature in this town). One place had Fiddlehead (that is kind of a joke, because there was only two places). Found a gas station that had a five page beer list and 3 local beers. Strong Rope has a satellite tap room nearby that I drove by without realizing it (the reason for my post). I also drove right by Argyle on the way back, but there were closed on Mondays.

Thank you so much for posting the useful Fox and NYP articles in the NE forum, downplaying COVID. I can’t speak for everyone, but I found them enlightening

sorry, it was Round Lake where they removed all the homes. Store of The North had a decent beer selection. Probably best we saw.
